Hubei Residents Can Now Use Medical Insurance for Online Consultations and Medication Purchases! Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, seeking medical care outside the home has become a challenge. Today, Ping An Good Doctor announced that its internet hospital has integrated online medical insurance payment services for Hubei Province. This one-stop service for remote consultations and medication purchases, enabling “cashless payments via cloud-based card swiping without leaving home,” not only sets multiple “firsts in China” but also brings genuine convenience to tens of millions of residents in Hubei.

To meet healthcare demands during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hubei Provincial Healthcare Security Administration rapidly launched the “Internet+ Healthcare Security Service Platform” (hereinafter referred to as the Internet Healthcare Security Platform) by adopting an “Internet+” model. As the first provincial-level healthcare security platform in China to enable online payment for internet-based medical services, it marks a new phase in the inclusion of “Internet+” medical service costs within the scope of healthcare security reimbursement.

As China’s largest internet healthcare company, Ping An Good Doctor has launched its online hospital, which is among the first institutions to enable online payment via Hubei Provincial Medical Insurance. This marks Ping An Good Doctor as the world’s first internet healthcare platform to integrate online medical insurance payments.

In the future, Ping An Good Doctor will serve nearly 60 million residents across Hubei Province, enabling citizens to access convenient, efficient, and secure internet-based medical services from home. These one-stop services include online consultations, prescription circulation, online payment, and home delivery of medications.

Ms. Wang from Shiyan City, Hubei Province, praised the service for its convenience after using it. Having suffered from diabetes for many years, Ms. Wang has regular needs to purchase medication. During the COVID-19 pandemic, however, visiting the hospital for follow-up consultations and prescriptions became a challenge. “I wanted to go to the hospital to get my prescription, but I was afraid of cross-infection. Online prescriptions could not be covered by medical insurance before. Now it’s much better and very convenient,” said Ms. Wang.

Ms. Wang accessed the services page on the homepage of the Ping An Good Doctor app, verified her medical insurance information, and began her online consultation. “The doctor was very patient. After carefully inquiring about my condition, he issued a prescription for me.” Ms. Wang then selected the pharmacy closest to her home, confirmed the order and medical insurance settlement details, and completed the purchase. “It cost me the same as an offline hospital visit, and the medication was delivered to my doorstep—so convenient,” Ms. Wang remarked.
