Innovaccer

Medical and Health Data Service Provider

The COVID-19 Management System enables remote monitoring of patient data and telemedicine services, tracks patient mobility, and assists government agencies and health organizations in assessing patients’ physical conditions and potential risks, thereby providing a safer working environment for healthcare workers. Additionally, the system disseminates educational materials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to patients, informing them of required isolation measures and other government-provided information, thus helping to alleviate patient anxiety and curb viral transmission.

Innovaccer, founded in 2012 by Abhinav Shashank, Kanav Hasija, and Sandeep K Gupta, is headquartered in San Francisco, USA. Over the years, the company has been dedicated to leveraging artificial intelligence analytics to automate routine workflows, enabling physicians and patients to rapidly access data summaries and analytical insights. This approach enhances clinical outcomes and improves the financial performance of healthcare organizations, boosting operational efficiency while effectively reducing costs.

Both Abhinav Shashank and Kanav Hasija attended the Indian Institutes of Technology. Currently, Abhinav Shashank serves as the CEO of Innovaccer, while Kanav Hasija serves as the Chief Customer Officer.

The other members of Innovaccer’s management team are also highly accomplished, holding doctoral and master’s degrees and possessing extensive experience in corporate governance.

David Nace (Chief Medical Officer) earned his M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining Innovaccer, he served as Chief Medical Officer at Lantern and Vice President at McKesson, among other roles. With over 20 years of management experience, he has demonstrated excellence in business development and project leadership. Mike Sutten (Chief Digital Officer) holds an M.B.A. from the University of San Diego. Before joining Innovaccer, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Kaiser Permanente.

To date, Innovaccer has provided its Data Analytics Platform (DAP) and intelligent care application modules to more than 10,000 healthcare providers and medical service organizations across over 500 cities, including enterprises such as Mercy ACO, Orlando Health, UniNet Healthcare Network, and Osler Health Network. Innovaccer’s Data Activation Platform (DAP) helps customers rapidly integrate financial, claims, and operational data by analyzing and consolidating information from pharmacies, laboratories, and healthcare facilities, thereby facilitating better decision-making.

Innovaccer operates five offices across the United States and Asia, maintains partnerships with major laboratories and healthcare institutions, and has attracted clients from the financial and retail sectors in addition to healthcare organizations and professionals.

Abhinav Shashank, CEO of Innovaccer, stated, “In the healthcare sector, data has been experiencing explosive growth, yet for a long time, people were unable to derive valuable insights from it. In the past, technological solutions focused solely on building the latest applications, neglecting data flexibility and interoperability. Therefore, we are committed to creating a globally leading healthcare data platform to enhance data transparency and interoperability.”

Four Featured Products: Providing Users with More Convenient Access to Telemedicine

Currently, Innovaccer’s product portfolio includes InConnect, InCare, InNote, and InGraph. These products are designed for use by hospitals, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), as well as government and non-profit organizations.

InConnectInConnect supports text, voice, and video communication between doctors and patients, enabling physicians to provide remote medical care and allowing patients to schedule consultations. Additionally, InConnect regularly shares relevant healthcare content with patients based on their information and sends reminders for outpatient appointment scheduling.

InCareInCare is a care coordination product that helps physicians manage patient information and provide solutions, streamlining cumbersome tasks to achieve better care outcomes. While locating patients’ personal information in medical records and electronic health records typically takes considerable time, InCare handles it all.

InCare’s key feature is its ability to enrich patient information by integrating multiple data sources. During use, InCare comprehensively logs patients’ care activity schedules, evaluates care outcomes and medication adherence, and promptly transmits the assessment results to physicians.

InNoteInNote is a platform that hosts patient information, continuously recording and updating electronic health records (EHRs) to provide physicians with a more comprehensive medical history. Meanwhile, InNote emphasizes communication among healthcare professionals by providing physicians with specialist information, facilitating faster decisions on patient referrals, and ensuring the effectiveness and continuity of patient care.

InGraphInGraph provides the most intuitive healthcare analytics for population health management strategies. As an advanced population health management system in the industry, it utilizes over 60 indicators to perform detailed stratification of populations and identify groups with potential risks. Through InGraph, physicians can access data in real time to gain insights into patients’ care experiences and respond accordingly, thereby enhancing the efficiency of healthcare delivery and nursing care.

Customer Success Stories

The persistent rise in healthcare costs has long been a pressing issue for the U.S. healthcare industry. A significant portion of this cost escalation can be attributed to redundant tasks, gaps in care, and delays in accessing accurate medical information. To address this challenge, healthcare organizations need a robust data platform to identify cost drivers and enhance patient-centered care.

Hartford HealthCare is one of the largest healthcare networks in Connecticut, comprising six hospitals and 128 clinics. Its extensive operations span clinical care, home health services, and rehabilitation care. Currently, the greatest challenge facing Hartford HealthCare is the insufficiency of clinical information and the inability to monitor quality metrics across all healthcare settings. As different medical facilities utilize disparate electronic health record (EHR) systems, Hartford HealthCare aims to address this issue by capturing data from these heterogeneous EHRs and consolidating it into a unified clinical information repository.

To address this challenge, Hartford HealthCare leverages Innovaccer’s Data Activation Platform to extract data from disparate electronic health records (EHRs), integrate and map the extracted data to a common data model, and finally store the processed data in a standardized data repository. The entire process adheres to rigorous standards; prior to data storage, the system performs over 60 data quality checks and generates data quality reports to ensure data accuracy and utility.

Since October 2017, Hartford HealthCare has integrated 15 types of electronic health records from 34 healthcare facilities through Innovaccer’s Data Activation Platform.

Partnering with Microsoft and Amazon

In January 2019, Innovaccer announced that it had raised $10 million in new funding, bringing its Series B total to $35 million. The round was led by M12, Microsoft’s venture fund, with participation from Westbridge Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners. This marked M12’s first investment in an Indian startup, driven by its interest in Innovaccer’s unique data processing and analytics algorithms. M12 subsequently participated in Innovaccer’s Series C financing in February 2020. With support from M12, Innovaccer is expanding its AI-assisted decision-making business and establishing a network of clinical experts and market executives to drive healthcare innovation.

Meanwhile, Microsoft Azure will partner with Innovaccer’s Data Activation Platform to provide care teams with comprehensive data insights and intelligent analytics. Innovaccer will also leverage various Microsoft products and solutions, such as Power BI, Azure Machine Learning Studio, Teams, Forms, and Skype, to support key data operations and analytics, thereby meeting market business demands.

In addition, Innovaccer maintains a strong partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing platform owned by Amazon. Leveraging AWS’s scalable computing capabilities, Innovaccer processes millions of data records daily, primarily sourced from pharmacies, hospitals, and electronic health records (EHRs). Through this collaboration with AWS, Innovaccer’s customers can access detailed and accurate information at no additional cost, ensuring that their interests remain fully protected.
