With socioeconomic development and the accelerating pace of life, the number of individuals with chronic diseases in China has reached approximately 300 million. According to official statistics, prostate cancer is the second most common malignant tumor among men worldwide and has become the most prevalent male urological malignancy in China. The number of people with hyperuricemia in China has reached 170 million, of whom 80 million suffer from gout.

During the epidemic, many patients with severe and chronic conditions urgently needed professional medical guidance, and the advantages of internet-based diagnosis and treatment—such as professionalism, efficiency, and convenience—gradually became prominent. On February 3, the General Office of the National Health Commission issued the "Notice on Strengthening Information Technology Support for the Prevention and Control of Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia," requiring full leverage of the unique advantages of internet hospitals and online consultation services. It encouraged the provision of online follow-up consultations for certain common and chronic diseases, as well as medication delivery services, to reduce the risk of cross-infection among other patients seeking offline medical care.

Starting from April 27, nearly 300 experts in the fields of transplantation, urology, and rheumatology and immunology from multiple Grade A tertiary hospitals will be mobilized to join the WeDoctor platform, providing patients with free consultation services. In addition, these medical experts will conduct live health education sessions on the WeDoctor platform, offering remote “face-to-face” interactions to address patients’ questions and concerns.
