Fosun Health+ Prospectus: Connecting Global Medical Resources Online and Offline Within 50 Days

In early 2020, Guo Guangchang, Chairman of Fosun International, proposed at the annual work report meeting to continuously strengthen the integration and expansion of internal resources, creating cross-sector products with distinctive Fosun characteristics. From the initial planning of online free clinics in mid-February, to the launch of a series of international video consultations with medical experts on April 6, and the trial operation of the “Fosun Health+” WeChat mini-program in mid-April, Fosun Healthcare Group has quietly and rapidly expanded its online presence by leveraging its offline medical resources. On April 29, the 2020 “515 Fosun Family Day” and Fosun Ecosystem Product Launch Conference were held at the Bund Finance Center (BFC). During this live video stream, which was watched by tens of thousands of viewers, Chen Qiyu, Co-CEO of Fosun International and Chairman of Fosun Pharmaceutical, officially launched the “Fosun Health+” product.

“Fosun Health+” is a family-centric online healthcare platform that integrates domestic and global medical resources, bringing together tens of thousands of physicians to provide families with online healthcare services such as virtual consultations, live streams by renowned experts, and private family physician (HMO) products.

As Fosun Healthcare Group’s online medical platform, “Fosun Health+” was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the post-pandemic era, it will serve as the vehicle for Fosun Healthcare Group’s vision of transforming consumer healthcare demands toward greater health-consciousness, digitalization, and family-centricity. When introducing the new product “Fosun Health+” to the public, Chen Qiyu stated that medical informatization and internet integration constitute the most critical component of “new infrastructure” during the pandemic. On February 27, at the outset of the COVID-19 outbreak, Fosun Healthcare Group mobilized nearly 500 physicians from more than 10 hospitals and clinics under its umbrella—including Foshan Chancheng Central Hospital (hereinafter referred to as “Chancheng Hospital”), Xuzhou Mining Group General Hospital, Xuzhou Mining Group First Hospital, Xuzhou Mining Group Second Hospital, Xuzhou Mining Group Third Hospital, Shenzhen Hengsheng Hospital, Yueyang Guangji Hospital, Wenzhou Geriatric Hospital, Suqian Zhongwu Hospital, Anhui Jimin Oncology Hospital, Zhuhai Chancheng Hospital, Wuhan Jihe Hospital, Shanghai Zhuorui Outpatient Clinic, Beijing Xingyi Outpatient Clinic, and Xiao Xing Doctor—to conduct a three-day online free clinic campaign. This initiative marked the launch of Fosun’s comprehensive internet healthcare services.

For internet healthcare, the large-scale online aggregation of doctors, patients, and doctor-patient relationships remains a perennially relevant core topic. To this end, Fosun Healthcare Group has been continuously creating conditions to facilitate the operation of internet hospitals by its affiliated physical hospitals. For instance, Chancheng Central Hospital, Fosun Healthcare’s flagship hospital, is one of the first three physical hospitals in Foshan, Guangdong Province, approved to conduct internet healthcare services.

On January 30 this year, as one of the first 57 internet hospitals in Guangdong Province to launch fever clinics, Chanyi Internet Hospital promptly introduced the “Chanyi Good Doctor” online free consultation service. It is reported that during the epidemic period, the average daily number of online consultations at Chanyi Internet Hospital accounted for 10% of the total online consultations conducted by all internet hospitals in Foshan City. The entire process—from online consultation and physician-prescribed medications, through medical insurance payment, to offline home delivery of medicines—can be completed in as little as three hours.

On April 15, following the launch of the trial operation of the “Fosun Health+” mini-program, tens of thousands of doctors from Fosun Healthcare Group’s offline member institutions and partner medical organizations registered as platform physicians. This rapidly established an online consultation service covering more than 30 departments specializing in chronic and common diseases, enabling real-time access to star departments and leading experts from various hospitals.

In terms of patient triage, Fosun Healthcare Group has demonstrated strong capabilities in integrating internal and external resources. On April 27, the “People’s Good Doctor” client, in collaboration with Fosun Health+, launched an online appointment service for COVID-19 nucleic acid testing across multiple cities. This online booking system helps individuals traveling across cities for work resumption, school reopening, or business purposes to complete the health verification process based on nucleic acid testing within one day.

It is reported that Fosun Health+, Youyibang, Babytree, Xiaoxing Doctor, Baihe Jiayuan, and other platforms under Fosun have joined forces with Dian Diagnostics, Bohao Medical Laboratory, and multiple medical institutions under Fosun Healthcare to launch the first batch of online appointment services for COVID-19 nucleic acid testing. This service covers 20 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, and Shenzhen, and has already provided testing services to over one million people.

In addition to online consultations, “Fosun Health+” has successively hosted three live-streamed events featuring cross-border connections with medical experts since April. This initiative has gradually evolved into a “Renowned Doctors’ Lecture Hall” section, comprising both regularly updated content and irregular special events. Through features such as appointment-based viewing, playback, and Q&A, users can establish direct or indirect connections with experts in fields including traditional Chinese medicine, obstetrics and pediatrics, oncology, sports rehabilitation, and mental health.

On April 6, led by Fosun Healthcare Group and bringing together “national team” medical experts from Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangdong—including Professor Zhu Chouwen, Vice President of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University; Professor Liu Zhengyin, Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases and leader of the Peking Union Medical College Hospital’s medical team aiding Hubei; Professor Hu Bijie, Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, and member of the national and Shanghai expert groups for COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment; Professor Gao Xinglin, Director of the Respiratory Department in the East Ward of Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital; and Professor Jia Xiaomin, Deputy Dean and Chief Physician of the Respiratory Department at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University, as well as leader of Fosun Healthcare’s medical team aiding Hubei—the initiative connected with public health experts and physicians from the United States, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and other countries to provide robust support for the global fight against the pandemic.

Online consultation data from “Fosun Health+” shows that pediatric consultations consistently rank among the highest in daily active users. On April 16, during the “First Pediatricians’ Anti-Epidemic Seminar” jointly organized by the “Shanghai-Hubei Children’s Heart Guardian” platform and the Fosun Foundation, Fosun Healthcare Group, together with its subsidiaries Shanghai Xingchen Children’s Hospital and Xiao Xing Doctor, launched online free clinics under the “Shanghai-Hubei Children’s Heart Guardian” initiative and held the “Pediatricians’ Anti-Epidemic Seminar.” By connecting with overseas expert physicians, these efforts provided support for safeguarding children’s health in the global fight against the epidemic.
