Professor Tian Jie, Director of the Key Laboratory of Molecular Imaging of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has confirmed his participation in the 2nd International Summit on Medical Device Innovation.

Tian Jie, Director of the Key Laboratory of Molecular Imaging, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2002 and named a Chang Jiang Scholar by the Ministry of Education in 2007. As the primary contributor, he received the National Science and Technology Progress Award twice (in 2002 and 2004) and the National Invention Award twice (in 2010 and 2012). He was honored with the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize in 2012 and the National Innovation and Excellence Award in 2017. From 2014 to 2019, he was listed among Elsevier’s Highly Cited Chinese Researchers in Medical Sciences for six consecutive years. He served as Chief Scientist for the National Basic Research Program (973 Program) of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2006 and 2011. He serves on the editorial boards of several international journals, including IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging (TMI), IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering (TBE), IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics (JBHI), and European Radiology (Eur. Rad.). He is a Fellow of IEEE, SPIE, IAMBE, AIMBE, OSA, ISMRM, and IAPR (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, International Society for Optics and Photonics, International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering, American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, The Optical Society, International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and International Association for Pattern Recognition). He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Clinical Precision Medicine Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and Chairman of the Ultrasound Molecular Imaging and Artificial Intelligence Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association.

Professor Tian Jie proposed,Artificial intelligence, big data, and other technologies are only valuable when linked to specific clinical problems.Only techniques and clinical applications endorsed by surgeons and physicians can hold greater significance.

Professor Tian Jie believes that,The application of artificial intelligence in medicine should be problem-oriented: identify the problem, develop methods, and then implement solutions. It should originate from clinical practice, advance beyond it, and then proceed to commercialization.Identify a currently challenging clinical issue, attempt to address it using artificial intelligence and big data, evaluate the outcomes, and thereby establish a complete workflow.

Professor Tian Jie statedAI will not replace doctors; it will only assist them more effectively.Physicians should not fear emerging technologies; rather, they should proactively leverage and utilize them. Artificial intelligence in healthcare, powered by big medical data, will inevitably assist in and even transform traditional clinical diagnosis and treatment workflows.
