Ms. Liu, a resident of Shandong Province, became pregnant several years ago but terminated the pregnancy due to fetal lateral ventriculomegaly. She has been undergoing postoperative health management since then and is planning to conceive again this year. However, her current health status is suboptimal, with elevated blood glucose and uric acid levels, and she has been taking hypoglycemic medications on an ongoing basis. Ms. Liu is concerned not only about the potential recurrence of ventriculomegaly in this pregnancy but also about the possible impact of her medications on fetal development. In order to have a healthy baby, she has long sought consultation with specialists in Beijing regarding eugenics and perinatal care, but her busy work schedule has prevented her from doing so.

A couple of days ago, Ms. Liu came across a post in her expectant mothers’ online group about the “Healthy China – Mothers’ Action” free online clinic event. She noted that Dr. Yang Huixia, Director of the Department of Obstetrics at Peking University First Hospital, specializes in pre-conception genetic counseling and is an expert in maternal-fetal medicine. Eager to take advantage of this opportunity, she promptly submitted an application for the free consultation.

VCBeat has learned that the “Healthy China, Mothers’ Action” is a major public welfare initiative jointly launched by the All-China Women’s Federation, the National Health Commission, and the General Administration of Sport of China. The initiative aims to significantly improve health literacy among women nationwide and leverage the unique role of mothers within families to encourage all family members to adopt healthy lifestyles, thereby contributing to the Healthy China strategy through family well-being. As an invited partner organization for the “Healthy China, Mothers’ Action,” Haodf.com is responsible for organizing and implementing specialized online free clinic services. From June 29 to July 31, Haodf.com, in collaboration with multiple top-tier public tertiary hospitals across China, will continue to provide free online consultation services to women nationwide.

It is reported that the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Peking University First Hospital serves as the National Research Center for Obstetric and Gynecologic Diseases (Perinatal Center), a National Key Clinical Specialty designated by the National Health Commission, a Key Discipline under the Ministry of Education, and a Baby-Friendly Hospital accredited by the World Health Organization. The department is currently divided into two specialties: gynecology and obstetrics. The gynecology section covers gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology, infections, endoscopy, female urology, and family planning; the obstetrics section includes general obstetrics, maternal medicine, and fetal medicine. In active response to the national call, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Peking University First Hospital partnered with Haodf.com to hold a free online charity clinic on July 13. Nearly 60 specialists in obstetrics and gynecology participated, providing online consultations to address patients’ medical concerns.

Ms. Liu, mentioned earlier, was able to conveniently connect with Director Yang Huixia of Peking University First Hospital through this free online clinic event. She felt very fortunate to have accessed a national-level expert without relying on personal connections or acquaintances. In response to Ms. Liu’s condition, Director Yang provided detailed guidance and recommendations via the Haodf Online platform.

The “Healthy China, Mothers’ Action” special online free clinic initiative has integrated authoritative public hospitals, such as Peking University First Hospital, with third-party internet healthcare platforms. By leveraging the internet, it efficiently delivers high-quality expert services to patients across China, enabling the public to better enjoy the convenience and benefits brought by technological advancements in accessing medical care.
