On February 7, Johnson & Johnson's "This Place Without Silver" Public Welfare Journey — the launch meeting of the 2026 "No Silver Here" public welfare project was held at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Pharmaceuticals' Xi'an factory. Nearly a hundred dermatology experts and patient organization representatives from across China gathered in the ancient city to jointly map out the "China Dermatology Silver-Free Ecosystem Blueprint." With two “prescriptions,” they injected professional strength and humanistic warmth into the fair academic and career development of 7 million psoriasis patients in China, driving public welfare practices in China’s psoriasis field to new, diverse heights.

"Silver-Free" Treatment Prescriptions Illuminate Hope for Healing, Public Welfare Actions Address Unmet Needs
More than 60% of psoriasis patients believe that recurring skin lesions have caused distress in their work and studies, 37% of patients have lost their jobs due to psoriasis, and the unemployment rate among moderate to severe patients is as high as 48%. Over half of the patients have reduced social interactions due to psychological stress… At the "Path to Clarity" public welfare exhibition area during the event, a series of data not only vividly illustrated the academic and career development challenges faced by psoriasis patients but also revealed the heavy societal burden resulting from these issues. The real-life stories behind these numbers allowed the guests present to directly feel the unmet needs of psoriasis patients beyond disease treatment, which urgently require attention and support from all sectors of society. As Shi Xingxiang, founder of the Psoriasis Patient Mutual Aid Network, said: "100% of psoriasis patients deserve equal opportunities for development."
Aiming to support the treatment and development needs of psoriasis patients, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Pharmaceuticals launched the "No Silver Lining" public welfare project in 2024. Through innovative public welfare methods, it gradually builds a fair development support system for psoriasis patients. In 2026, the project will conduct the "Psoriasis Patient Career Development Insight Survey" to promote more targeted support from all sectors of society with scientific data, creating a fair and inclusive social environment for psoriasis patients.

At the event site, Professor Gao Xinghua from the First Hospital of China Medical University, as the leading expert of this research, affirmed the social value of this public welfare practice. Professor Gao Xinghua stated: "With the emergence and clinical application of innovative drugs such as biologics, we can now help patients achieve complete or almost complete clearance of symptoms and skin lesions (PASI100 or PASI90) through prescriptions in hand. However, beyond disease treatment, 'blind spots' caused by social misunderstanding still exist. Gaining data-driven insights into the real challenges faced by patients in terms of career and social integration is a crucial step toward building a fair environment."
"Prescription" for a Silver-Free Life Gathers 100 Experts to Tackle Development Challenges in a New Attempt
From focusing on the clearance of skin lesions to comprehensively caring for patients' physical, mental, and social functions as well as their long-term quality of life; from single breakthroughs in clinical diagnosis and treatment to building a comprehensive support ecosystem involving doctors, patients, non-profit organizations, media, and all sectors of society — the development of China’s dermatology field not only reflects the continuous improvement in treatment standards but also genuinely mirrors the life journey of every patient.
At the event site, a special "Blueprint of China's Dermatology Silver-Free Ecosystem" caught everyone's attention. This landscape scroll was personally painted by Xiaoya (a pseudonym), a psoriasis patient, who used her twenty-year illness journey as both paper and ink, narrating her emotional transformation from the anxiety and helplessness caused by repeated flare-ups to the current calmness and joy brought by long-term disease stability. It is not only an artistic expression of the patient’s treatment journey but also a microcosm of the history of psoriasis treatment development in China. Moreover, it highlights that there remains a significant gap—constructed by social prejudice and insufficient awareness—between "controlling the disease" and "social acceptance."
To bridge this gap and effectively support psoriasis patients in having equal development opportunities, this event specially invited a hundred dermatology experts present to jointly issue a "prescription" for a life without psoriasis. This special "prescription" is not written in a medical record book but condenses the clinical experience and professional insights of numerous experts. It provides valuable recommendations for psoriasis patients from multiple dimensions, including diagnosis and treatment guidance, psychological counseling, career planning, and social integration, empowering patients with professional strength.

Johnson & Johnson's Head of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs, Qi Xinjian, stated: "On the path of continuous progress in dermatology in China, we feel deeply honored to be a companion and supporter, jointly promoting the development of the immunology field. Beyond treating diseases themselves, we focus on and respond to patients' unmet deep needs, striving to build a more friendly and inclusive social environment. We are willing to join hands with all parties to transform this 'prescription for life' carrying hope into tangible social action, supporting every patient to step out of the shadows and embrace the vast possibilities of life."
