VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that on September 28, InventisBio (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (“InventisBio”), a company dedicated to the independent research and development of innovative small-molecule drugs, announced the completion of its Series D financing. The total size of this round reached RMB 1 billion, attracting participation from numerous top-tier healthcare investment institutions. Hillhouse Venture Capital led the round, with follow-on investments from Qiming Venture Partners, Janchor Partners, AIHC Capital, Matrix Partners China, Deyi Capital, and E Fund Capital. Existing shareholders, including Lilly Asia Ventures, OrbiMed, Pudong Sci-Tech Innovation Group, Shangcheng Capital, and CMB International, continued their support. China Renaissance served as the exclusive financial advisor.

InventisBio currently has three products in the mid-to-late stages of clinical development, with additional new products having initiated Phase I clinical studies. Among these, D-0502 is an orally available selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD) independently developed by InventisBio, which also functions as an estrogen receptor antagonist and is effective in treating patients with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. Compared with other oral SERDs in clinical development worldwide, D-0502 has demonstrated favorable clinical efficacy, bioavailability, and safety profile, showing potential as a first-in-class therapy. Furthermore, BPI-D0316, a third-generation EGFR T790M tyrosine kinase inhibitor independently developed by the company and licensed to Betta Pharmaceuticals for rights in China, is undergoing pivotal registration trials for both first-line and second-line treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR mutations, with progress proceeding smoothly.

The funds raised in this round will primarily be used to support Phase II clinical trials of the company’s existing products in China and the United States, including clinical trials for D-0502, targeting hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, and D-0120, targeting gout. The funding will also support the development of an anti-tumor drug that has recently entered global Phase I clinical trials, as well as further expand the company’s product R&D pipeline and team.

Dr. Wang Yaolin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of InventisBio, stated, “InventisBio is dedicated to researching and developing first-in-class and best-in-class innovative drugs with independent intellectual property rights for major diseases such as cancer, ensuring that patients benefit from the new medicines developed by InventisBio. We are delighted that our Series D financing round has been led by Hillhouse Capital Management’s venture capital arm and attracted interest from other top-tier investment institutions, along with continued support from existing investors. This reflects the recognition by pharmaceutical investment institutions of InventisBio’s R&D pipeline and its integrated small-molecule drug discovery platform, and also demonstrates our strategic investors’ confidence in InventisBio’s team and its rich pipeline of products in the future global pharmaceutical market.”

Yi Nuoqing, Co-Chief Investment Officer of Hillhouse Capital and Head of Biopharmaceuticals and Medical Devices at Hillhouse Ventures, stated, “As a small-molecule innovative drug R&D enterprise, InventisBio possesses a unique and in-depth understanding of the structure-activity relationships (SAR) of small-molecule drugs. The founding members bring over 20 years of experience and technical expertise, while the core team demonstrates strong synergy in target selection and project advancement. Since its establishment, InventisBio has effectively balanced innovation with druggability, efficiently advancing multiple projects to address unmet clinical needs. Currently, four independently developed novel drugs have entered clinical stages, with two registration-enabling clinical trials underway, covering the fields of oncology and metabolic diseases. Furthermore, InventisBio’s product development progress consistently remains at the forefront among comparable domestic products. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with the company to accelerate R&D and clinical trials, facilitating the timely market launch of new products to benefit more patients.”

Xie Yijing, Managing Director and Head of the Healthcare and Life Sciences Group at China Renaissance, stated, “China Renaissance is honored to have assisted InventisBio in successfully completing its Series D financing. This round marks another collaboration with the InventisBio team, following our role as the exclusive financial advisor for its Series C financing. We highly recognize the InventisBio team’s exceptional execution efficiency and are sincerely pleased with the rapid progress the company has achieved since its Series C round. We believe that the success of this financing round will undoubtedly support InventisBio’s continued growth.”
