Chinese Stomatological Association and Tencent DoctorSign Forge Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Oral Health Science Popularization Infrastructure

On September 19, coinciding with the approach of National Love Your Teeth Day, Tencent Yidian and the Chinese Stomatological Association (CSA) signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will fully leverage their respective advantages in professional physician resources and popular science content production to jointly build oral health education covering the entire lifespan from children to the elderly, thereby raising public awareness of oral health and improving the overall health of the population. Professor Yu Guangyan, President of the CSA; Professor Sun Zheng, Supervisor of the CSA; Professor Bai Yuxing, Vice President of the CSA; Professor Yue Lin, Secretary-General of the CSA; Cai Jie, Deputy General Manager of Tencent Medical Information; and Wang Di, Editor-in-Chief of Tencent Yidian, attended the signing ceremony as representatives of their respective organizations.

Oral health is closely linked to overall health, with the World Health Organization listing the health of teeth and periodontal tissues as one of the ten key indicators of human health. Data shows that the current state of oral health in China is concerning, with approximately 80% of the population affected by dental diseases. As living standards improve, there is growing attention paid to oral health. The strategic partnership between Tencent Yidian and the Chinese Stomatological Association will significantly advance the precise dissemination of oral health education in the internet era, thereby promoting improvements in the nation’s oral health.

According to reports, the two parties will bring together authoritative experts in the field to develop educational entries on common oral diseases and preventive care. They will produce diversified science popularization content by leveraging currently popular videos and live streams, and disseminate it through the integrated content ecosystems of the Chinese Stomatological Association and Tencent Yidian, thereby integrating oral health education into the public’s daily life.

Yu Guangyan, President of the Chinese Stomatological Association, stated, “Oral health is a marker of a nation’s level of civilization. The oral health status of residents is inextricably linked to their awareness and practices regarding oral healthcare. Although the results of the Fourth National Epidemiological Survey on Oral Health indicate that the oral health literacy of Chinese residents has improved compared to ten years ago, with better tooth retention among the elderly, the prevalence of dental caries in children and periodontal diseases in middle-aged and older adults is on the rise. Therefore, we must continue to strengthen science popularization efforts in oral health, further enhancing public awareness. We look forward to collaborating with professional science communication platforms such as Tencent Medical Dictionary to fully mobilize healthcare professionals’ enthusiasm for public education, disseminate more scientific knowledge about oral health, guide the public in maintaining good oral hygiene practices, and achieve early prevention and treatment of oral diseases as well as sustained maintenance of oral health.”

As a professional medical science popularization platform under Tencent, Tencent Medipedia is committed to building “T-shaped” medical content. It expands basic knowledge horizontally to enhance public awareness, covering topics such as general health education, brief introductions to diseases, and pathogenesis. Vertically, it develops in-depth content covering the entire diagnosis and treatment process for chronic conditions such as cancer. Through this collaboration with the Chinese Stomatological Association, both horizontal everyday oral hygiene and preventive care knowledge and vertical specialized information on oral diseases will be further expanded.

In addition to constructing a systematic knowledge graph, Tencent Yidian has fully leveraged its technological expertise by deeply integrating medicine with AI technology, launching multiple convenient tools such as optical character recognition (OCR)-based interpretation of medical examination reports and keypoint recognition-based posture assessment.

To date, Tencent Medical Dictionary has partnered with over 5,000 professional physicians, covering 10,000 disease types and more than 85% of common conditions. Recently, it launched a Content Openness Program, collaborating via API interfaces with various platforms—including search engines, content platforms, mobile applications, and smart hardware—to systematically deliver professional health education content and intelligent tools. This initiative aims to provide users with desirable, accessible, and practical health knowledge tailored to specific scenarios.
