Deputy to the National People's Congress of China; Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine; Former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Former President of the Fourth Military Medical University. He has long been engaged in clinical and basic research on digestive system diseases and is committed to macro-strategic research on medical development. He was the first in the world to propose the theory of Integrative Medicine and put it into practice. He has successively undertaken numerous research projects, including serving as Chief Scientist for the National 973 Program, the National 863 Program, Key National Science and Technology Projects, Major New Drug Creation and Development Program, National Natural Science Foundation projects, and major advisory projects of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. His accolades include the National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress (Innovative Team), one First Prize, one Second Prize, and one Third Prize of the National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress, one National Award for Technological Invention, two First Prizes for Military Scientific and Technological Progress, and one First Prize for Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology.Holds 2 national invention patents, 38 utility model patents, and 1 National New Drug Certificate. Recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Servier Award from the French National Academy of Medicine, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, the Qiu Shi Practical Engineering Award, and the China Outstanding University President Award. Served as editor-in-chief of 31 monographs, among which *The Way of Scholarship: Essence* and *Medical Development: Examination* are both monumental works exceeding 2.1 million words and nearly 1,500 pages each. Serves as a member of the National Textbook Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the National Digital Textbooks for Higher Medical Education (53 volumes), Editor-in-Chief of the *In-Depth Series in Basic Medicine* (10 volumes), and Editor-in-Chief of *Frontiers in Cancer Research* (18 volumes). Has served as Editorial Board Member, Associate Editor, or Editor-in-Chief for 13 international journals, including *Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology*, *Gut*, and *Hepatology*. Published 651 SCI-indexed papers in international journals such as *The Lancet*, *Nature Medicine*, *Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology*, *Nature Clinical Practice Oncology*, and *Gut*, with a highest single-paper impact factor of 45 and over 20,000 total citations.
