In 2020, the sudden outbreak of the pandemic subjected clinics, as the first line of defense in safeguarding public health, to an unprecedented test.
In July this year, DXY released the "Report on the Development of Primary Care Clinics in China in the Post-Pandemic Era," compiled from surveys of 4,000 primary care clinics across China. The report shows that 70% of primary healthcare institutions experienced a decline in outpatient visits of more than 40%.
Data from Qichacha shows that more than 1,000 clinics were deregistered nationwide in April and May.
The pandemic has undoubtedly dealt a widespread blow to primary healthcare institutions.
As the pandemic situation gradually improves, primary care clinics are resuming operations one after another. While some outpatient departments have quickly returned to their pre-pandemic levels, most institutions have struggled for months with little success. If living with the pandemic becomes the new normal, what path should they take? How have patients’ healthcare-seeking behaviors changed due to the pandemic? What adjustments will the government make to policies regarding primary healthcare in the future?
To address the unprecedented challenges facing primary healthcare, under the guidance of the China Non-Government Medical Institutions Association, Mingyi Zhonghe, an innovative enterprise in “Internet + Primary Healthcare,” jointly launched the First Primary Healthcare Development and Management Forum with VCBeat, Health County Media, and other organizations. More than 30 industry experts, management consultants, frontline operators, and entrepreneurs were invited to convene online for live discussions. This initiative aims not only to offer insights and recommendations for industry development but also to unite peers in strengthening internal capabilities during difficult times, working together to overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic.
