Yizhun Intelligence Unveils Multiple New AI-Powered Imaging Solutions at CMEF to Advance Intelligent Medical Device Upgrades

Oct 20, 2020 11:09 CST Updated 11:09

During CMEF 2020, iDeepWise officially launched three products: the Intelligent Multi-Disease Analysis System for Chest Digital Radiography (DXR), the Intelligent Multi-Disease Analysis System for Chest CT, and the Darwin Intelligent Research Platform 2.0. “The launch of these three new products not only serves as a comprehensive review and summary of our product innovations over the past year, but also represents a further step in transforming individual devices, marking a milestone in the intelligent upgrading of medical imaging equipment,” said Lü Chenchong, Founder and CEO of iDeepWise.

The Horizontal-then-Vertical Product R&D Path of Yizhun Intelligent

“To date, we have achieved 100% coverage in mammography, 100% coverage in chest CT, and 100% coverage in chest digital radiography (DR). We are also making headway in ultrasound, with notable progress already made,” summarized Lü Chenchong. He noted that Yizhun AI’s product development has followed a strategy of expanding breadth first, then depth, closely aligning with the intelligent upgrade of imaging equipment.

For breast health, Yizhun Intelligence offers intelligent detection solutions for two types of equipment: breast ultrasound and mammography, forming a dual-engine approach for early breast cancer screening and achieving comprehensive coverage of breast examinations. Notably, the "Intelligent Breast Ultrasound Detection System," launched in July 2020, is China's first video-based AI detection system designed specifically for ultrasound devices, advancing intelligent breast examination into the AI 3.0 era of real-time video analysis. After two years of development, the Intelligent Mammography Detection System has assisted physicians in conducting precise breast cancer screening at more than 100 renowned hospitals and healthcare institutions at various levels across China.

For CT equipment, Yizhun AI released its intelligent multi-disease analysis system for chest CT scans at this CMEF. The system provides comprehensive coverage of nine major chest conditions, including pulmonary nodules, pneumonia, rib fractures, mediastinal tumors, bullae, pneumothorax, pulmonary tuberculosis, pleural effusion, and bronchiectasis, thereby enabling the intelligent upgrade of CT devices.

For DR equipment, Yizhun Intelligence has launched an intelligent analysis system for full-spectrum thoracic conditions on chest DR. This system achieves comprehensive coverage of eight major thoracic diseases, including pulmonary nodules/masses, pulmonary tuberculosis, lung consolidation, hilar enlargement, pleural effusion, pneumothorax, rib fractures, and cardiomegaly. It also incorporates four advanced features: virtual energy subtraction, PICC line placement assessment, rib segmentation with anatomical localization, and foreign body detection. By enabling rapid analysis of chest DR images, the system supports the intelligent upgrading of DR devices.

Beyond clinical applications, Yizhun AI has officially launched the Darwin Intelligent Research Platform 2.0 at this year’s CMEF to meet the needs of medical research. This product enables physicians to engage directly with AI, conduct medical research efficiently and independently, and represents a further upgrade of its one-stop medical research platform—streamlining the workflow from annotation to modeling while lowering the barrier to entry.

The Need for Intelligent Upgrades of Imaging Equipment Is Becoming Increasingly Urgent

Since its emergence around 2014, AI in medical imaging has entered the deep waters of commercial application. One manifestation of this trend is that many existing imaging devices—such as CT, MRI, color Doppler ultrasound, ECG, EEG, and X-ray—have already adopted AI technologies to varying degrees. Nevertheless, there is still a considerable distance to go before AI can truly fulfill its potential.

“The notion that ‘a single function constitutes a product’ is common in AI products, but it differs significantly from hospital diagnosis and treatment workflows. Single-function products fail to meet physicians’ needs; instead, clinicians require AI solutions that cover the full spectrum of diseases for at least one anatomical region. This represents an emerging trend and serves as one viable pathway for companies designing clinical trials. Current evidence suggests that only products capable of diagnosing multiple anatomical regions and a broad range of conditions can satisfy hospital requirements and proceed through the regulatory approval process.” This conclusion was drawn in the white paper titled “Returning to Needs: The Path and Wisdom of Integrating Value-Based Medical AI Innovation,” jointly released by VCBeat and VBInsight this September.

“The intelligent upgrading of imaging equipment is an inevitable trend,” said Lu Chenchong. “To turn this trend into reality, at least two requirements must be met: first, a diverse product portfolio tailored to different types of equipment; second, beyond offering suitable products, attention must also be paid to channel coverage and accessibility. Over the past three years, Yizhun Intelligence has laid a solid foundation in R&D for multi-device solutions. Furthermore, by maintaining ongoing ecological collaborations with upstream and downstream industry partners, we have effectively addressed channel coverage challenges. Therefore, we are confident in our ability to contribute meaningfully to the intelligent upgrading of imaging equipment.”
