Experience Jinan’s Dazzling Light Show Welcoming the Grand Event
Last year, the inaugural World Internet Conference on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Industry was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, attracting TCM experts and industry professionals from 27 countries and regions, thereby becoming a major event in the TCM sector. Since the beginning of this year, the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged the globe, and the advantages of TCM in the prevention, treatment, and control of COVID-19 have gained widespread recognition. Promoting innovation across the entire TCM industrial chain and sharing the practical achievements of TCM with the world is both an opportunity and a mission.
As a major province for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Shandong has focused on cultivating and developing high-quality, characteristic TCM materials, with key support provided to leading enterprises. On May 10, 2020, the Leading Group for Promoting the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shandong Province held its first meeting. The meeting emphasized accelerating reforms and institutional innovation, deepening systemic and mechanistic reforms in areas such as TCM standard identification, pricing mechanisms, medical insurance payment, and performance assessment, improving the policy framework, creating new institutional advantages, and planning and implementing a batch of key industrial projects. On July 7, China’s first inter-provincial alliance for the procurement of traditional Chinese medicines (materials) was officially established in Jinan, with 14 provinces across the country joining. The alliance covers six major authentic production regions for TCM materials. Concurrently, construction began on several supporting projects, including the Bianque Smart TCM Pharmacy. At the launch ceremony, Sang Binsheng, Vice President and Secretary-General of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, delivered a speech and announced that the 2nd World Internet Conference on the TCM Industry would be held in Jinan.
Themed “Development of the Internet-Enabled Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Health Industry in the Post-Pandemic Era,” this conference will delve into the high-quality integrated development of TCM and the internet industry in the post-pandemic era, accelerate the growth of emerging global TCM industries, and cultivate new drivers for TCM development. The conference is structured into four major modules: “Deconstructing the Development Power of Modern TCM,” “New Momentum in the Development of Internet Hospitals,” “The Industrialization Path of Smart TCM,” and “A Chronicle of Global TCM’s Role in Pandemic Response.” It features online and offline sub-forums, including the Academic Exchange on Smart TCM Services for Human Health, the High-Level Forum on the Global TCM Internet Health Industry, the Forum on Information Security in Global Healthcare, the Forum on Medical Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, and the Forum on Promoting TCM Health Services to Households via the Internet, facilitating professional exchanges across various fields.
The conference will unveil a series of demonstration projects and achievements in the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry. The World Traditional Chinese Medicine (Herbs) Internet Trading Center, the World Traditional Chinese Medicine (Herbs) Quality Inspection Center, and the World Digital Traditional Chinese Medicine (Bian Que) Research Institute will be officially established at the event. The Bian Que Smart TCM Pharmacy demonstration project will sign agreements with multiple cities, and a major inclusive supplemental medical insurance product will be launched.
Leverage internet technology to provide a platform for global exchange and application seminars on the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with the internet, serve as an engine for the high-quality integrated development of TCM undertakings and industry, and promote the building of a community of common health for mankind. Let us jointly anticipate that Jinan, the City of Springs and hometown of Bian Que, will shine with the brilliance of both TCM and the internet.
