As the Healthy China Initiative is progressively implemented, community health management has gradually emerged as a new trend in chronic disease management by providing residents with services such as management of non-communicable chronic diseases and remote medical consultations. Recently, Huami Technology (NYSE: HMI), in partnership with the Anhui Red Cross Foundation and the Hefei Red Cross Society, launched the “Smart Health Community Public Welfare Care Campaign,” providing health-monitoring smartwatches free of charge to community residents. Leveraging wearable devices and an online physician management platform, the initiative enables health monitoring and early warning for residents, establishing a comprehensive remote health management solution.
This project utilizes smart wearable devices to monitor participants’ health indicators, including heart rate, electrocardiogram (ECG), physical activity, and sleep patterns. It issues timely alerts upon detecting abnormalities and synchronizes the anomalous data with a management platform, where medical professionals from Huami’s Smart Integrated Outpatient Clinic provide prompt intervention and guidance. This enables community residents to access proactive health management services from the comfort of their homes. The initiative has currently been launched in Tianle Community, High-Tech Zone, Hefei City.

Professor Zheng Jinping, Deputy Director of the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health, Deputy Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases, and Co-Director of the GMU-Huami Joint Laboratory for Wrist-worn Smart Wearable Devices, stated that the traditional chronic disease management model primarily follows a process of “diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up.” This model suffers from numerous drawbacks, including a limited scope of management, high reliance on manual labor, low level of informatization, and poor intelligent capabilities.
Centered on community health management services, a safe, efficient, and convenient one-stop service system has been established for residents. Participants can easily access precise, high-quality, and free services, enabling early detection of sub-health conditions and achieving digitalized and visualized management of chronic diseases, thereby enhancing individuals’ ability to monitor their own health status. Furthermore, by implementing health and chronic disease management services, the prevalence of major risk factors for chronic diseases among residents can be reduced, while awareness, treatment, and control rates of chronic diseases are improved. This approach helps mitigate the substantial economic, health, and life losses caused by chronic diseases, improves residents’ health status and quality of life, and alleviates the financial burden on medical insurance systems.

Shen Li, Party Branch Secretary and Head of the Anhui Red Cross Foundation, stated in a media interview that the Anhui Red Cross system is currently deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Through the “Smart Health Community Public Welfare Care Initiative,” the system is helping residents achieve convenient health monitoring and early warning, advancing proactive community health management. This effort reflects the requirements for comprehensively promoting the Healthy China initiative and contributes to enhancing the quality and level of technology-enabled healthcare.
