On November 7, the 4th SATOL Life Science Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum, themed “New Forces in Life Sciences,” concluded successfully in Jinan, Shandong Province, known as the “City of Springs.” The event aimed to provide a platform for in-depth exchange and win-win cooperation, accelerate the sharing, openness, and interconnectivity of resources in the healthcare industry, and promote innovative applications and industrial development within the healthcare sector.
Hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Jinan Municipal People’s Government, and Zhejiang University, and co-organized by the Chinese Medical Association and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the forum featured a diverse program including keynote speeches, project roadshows, and roundtable discussions. It established an effective multi-stakeholder dialogue mechanism to strengthen the integrated development of life sciences with clinical medicine and industrial finance. The event also recognized outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship teams, fostering collaboration among industry stakeholders to create new technological applications, emerging business formats, and innovative commercial models in the field of life sciences.
The SATOL Global Medical Accelerator has held three editions to date, emerging as a benchmark innovation event that draws extensive participation from life science tech startups and garners significant industry attention. As the innovation ecosystem in the life sciences sector continues to mature, breakthroughs in scientific translation and product development are being achieved, with high-quality innovative outcomes and early-stage projects continually emerging. The 20 outstanding companies advancing from the preliminary round of this year’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition span four key sectors: biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, digital health, and novel therapies.
At the opening ceremony of the World Life Science and Technology Conference held in the morning, Sun Jiye, Vice Governor of Shandong Province; Lei Jie, Chairman of the Jinan Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; and Academicians Yang Shengli, Li Lanjuan, Zhang Boli, Xu Jianguo, Zheng Jingchen, Zhang Zhiyuan, and Gu Xiaosong, together with Zheng Jie, President of Shulan Healthcare Management Group, presented awards to ten enterprises recognized on the Life Science and Technology Innovation List.

Subsequently, Wang Yunpeng, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial People’s Congress; Yin Luqian, Director of the Standing Committee of the Jinan Municipal People’s Congress; Academician Xie Lixin; Academician He Lin; Academician Wang Junzhi; Academician Liu Liang; Academician Tian Wei; Academician Shang Hong; Chen Zichen, Vice Chairman of the Development Committee of Zhejiang University; and Li Yan, President of Qilu Pharmaceutical Group, presented the Life Technology Entrepreneurship Award to ten other projects.

As one of the sub-forums of the World Life Science and Technology Conference, the 4th SATOL Life Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum held on the afternoon of the 7th invited Li Lanjuan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and an expert in infectious diseases, as well as Lei Jie, Chairman of the Jinan Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Shandong Province, to deliver opening remarks.

In her address, Academician Li Lanjuan stated that, upholding the original aspiration of “life first,” the future healthcare industry needs to foster cross-sector symbiosis and integrated innovation with technologies from diverse fields. Meanwhile, Academician Li also encouraged startups to actively expand the new frontiers of life sciences, have the courage to achieve new breakthroughs, and create new accomplishments, thereby establishing the health industry as a key pillar of the national economy.

In his address, Chairman Lei Jie outlined Jinan’s strategy for developing the life sciences and technology industry and achieving coordinated multi-industry growth. Leveraging Jinan’s high-quality industrial resources, the city is driving the conversion of old and new growth drivers by integrating cutting-edge technologies. This effort centers on the “Jinan Pharmaceutical Valley” in the east, anchored by the National Shandong Innovative Drug Incubation Base project, and the Jinan International Medical Science Center in the west, a major health industry initiative jointly established by provincial and municipal authorities.

Highlights of the Roundtable Forum
During the roundtable discussion at the forum, moderated by Zheng Jie, President of Shulan Medical Management Group, representatives from the government, industry, and investment sectors engaged in face-to-face dialogue on the theme “Industrial Synergy in Life Sciences Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship.” The panelists conducted a profound and extensive discussion covering topics ranging from the needs of innovative startup teams and the industrial environment for incubation and growth, to macro-level trend forecasting. They specifically addressed the development requirements of life sciences projects, the strategic direction for medical enterprises, and the roles that various industry stakeholders should play.
The afternoon breakout session hosted the final round of pitch presentations, where 20 companies fully demonstrated their innovations and breakthroughs in product technology, clinical application scenarios, and business models, earning widespread acclaim from on-site experts and industry peers. The judging panel, comprising representatives from the industry and professional healthcare investment institutions, stated that China’s vast market, rapidly advancing technology, and significant capital inflow have created new opportunities for the life sciences industry. They expressed hope that more companies and teams will deepen their engagement in the life sciences sector, emerging as new forces driving medical progress and innovative development, thereby injecting fresh momentum into industrial growth.

After evaluation by more than 30 on-site judges, Hangzhou Laipusheng Medical Technology Co., Ltd. was awarded the First Prize in the Life Sciences Startup Award; Shenzhen Tailai Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Shuming Artificial Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd. received the Second Prize; Nanjing Renmai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Aijin Artificial Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd., and Boyuan Runsheng Pharmaceutical (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. were awarded the Third Prize.
In the Innovation Rankings, Hangzhou MaiFlow Technology Co., Ltd. won the First Prize for Life Science and Technology Innovation; Muen (Guangzhou) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Cartey Medical Technology Co., Ltd. received the Second Prize; Zhongsheng Kangyuan Biotechnology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Attac Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen Kangyuan Jiuyuan Biotechnology Co., Ltd. were awarded the Third Prize.
This forum brought together elites from the scientific, industrial, investment, and medical communities, joining hands with outstanding practitioners in the life sciences and technology sector to share industry development trends and discuss integrated and collaborative growth. In response to the new landscape, the forum leveraged industrial and capital resources by focusing on industrial innovation, nurturing and empowering high-quality enterprises, strengthening government-research collaboration, and promoting interdisciplinary research. These efforts have provided strong support for advancing human health and sustainable social development, making new contributions to enhancing the health and well-being of the public.
