Investment institutions dedicated to the biomedicine and life sciences fields
VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that Dami and Xiaomi, a company dedicated to early intervention and rehabilitation for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), recently announced the completion of a tens-of-millions-of-dollars Series C financing round. The round was led by OrbiMed, a globally influential investment firm specializing in healthcare and life sciences, with continued participation from existing investors. China Renaissance served as the exclusive financial advisor for this transaction. Dami and Xiaomi disclosed that the proceeds will be used to advance the development of its intervention and rehabilitation products and service systems, as well as intelligent solutions. Additionally, the company plans to actively fulfill its social responsibilities by establishing inclusive offline centers and providing public welfare training in small and medium-sized cities.
Dami and Xiaomi is a service platform founded in Shenzhen, dedicated to rehabilitation for children with autism and those with pervasive developmental disorders. Over the past six years, it has established intervention and rehabilitation centers in more than 10 cities across China, serving tens of thousands of children with autism annually. The organization has independently trained over 700 rehabilitation specialists and therapists, and employs 32 doctors and masters degree holders who have returned from overseas studies, as well as dozens of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs).
Jiang Yingshuang, Founder and CEO of Dami and Xiaomi, stated that China has over 10 million individuals with autism, including more than 2 million children under the age of 14, and that existing professional rehabilitation institutions in the country fall far short of meeting demand. Following the completion of this round of financing, Dami and Xiaomi will launch a new strategy to “serve one million families of children with autism.” By integrating advanced intervention and rehabilitation theories and methods from both domestic and international sources, and leveraging big data and machine learning, the company aims to become a leading provider of high-quality products and services for child growth and development.
Dr. Wang Guowei, Global Partner at OrbiMed, stated that China faces a severe shortage of resources for intervention and rehabilitation institutions for children with autism compared to developed countries, along with insufficient service specialization. This constitutes a significant challenge in intervention and rehabilitation for children with autism and their families, urgently requiring professional and standardized early intervention to empower autism service providers. Committed to identifying and supporting biomedical and life sciences companies that promote human health, OrbiMed holds high regard for the professional innovation capabilities of Dami and Xiaomi and is willing to support its continued product development and service enhancement, thereby benefiting more children with autism and their families.
Founded in September 2014, Dami and Xiaomi has accumulated extensive rehabilitation and sociological data on children with autism over the past six years. Building on this foundation, the company assembled a multidisciplinary team spanning autism rehabilitation, internet technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to develop an intervention and rehabilitation system tailored for children with autism and developmental disorders. In October 2019, Dami and Xiaomi launched its proprietary RICE rehabilitation system, which centers on improving core deficits—particularly social skills—in affected children.
It was revealed that Dami and Xiaomi has collaborated with multiple experts and research institutions in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong (China), and Taiwan (China), and has embarked on joint initiatives with several domestic universities to cultivate standardized talent.
In 2018 and 2019, Dami and Xiaomi received investments from Fortune Capital, Genesis Capital, Wanwu Capital, and Qianshi Ventures.
