On December 10, the 36Kr “WISE 2020 King of the New Economy” Annual Conference was held in Beijing. Fan Jiping, Dean of WeDoctor Internet General Hospital, was invited to attend and deliver a keynote speech, joining entrepreneurs, investors, experts, and scholars from the industry to discuss the ten-year outlook for the future of the new economy.
During the conference, 36Kr Venture Capital Research Institute selected the “2020 China’s New Economy King: Most Competitive Companies” and “2020 China’s New Economy King: Most Influential Companies” across ten major new-economy sectors, including healthcare, consumer brands, and lifestyle. To be eligible for these awards, companies were required to demonstrate strong growth potential and capital value within their respective industry segments, while also ranking among the industry leaders in R&D and innovation investment.
As a globally leading digital health enterprise, WeDoctor has continuously driven business paradigm shifts and product innovation, emerging as an “innovation model” in supporting epidemic prevention and control and promoting industrial upgrading. It was honored as the “Most Competitive Enterprise of the 2020 King of China’s New Economy” and the “Most Influential Enterprise of the 2020 King of China’s New Economy.”

At the beginning of this year, the COVID-19 epidemic spread rapidly, presenting a severe public health challenge to all. Fan Jiping introduced that WeDoctor Internet General Hospital swiftly mobilized its core team and assembled more than 70,000 doctors nationwide to launch a large-scale medical rescue operation combining online and offline efforts.
At the onset of the outbreak, WeDoctor Internet General Hospital launched the “Real-Time Assistance Platform for COVID-19,” providing users with free online consultation services. To meet the growing health needs of users during the pandemic, WeDoctor Internet General Hospital successively introduced specialized sections and platforms, including the “Psychological Support Zone,” “Convenient Outpatient Clinic,” “Traditional Chinese Medicine Anti-Epidemic Platform,” and “Public Welfare Consultation Platform for Fighting COVID-19.” These initiatives provided comprehensive support in the fight against the epidemic and helped alleviate pressure on offline medical institutions. As the pandemic spread globally, WeDoctor rapidly launched the “Global Anti-Epidemic Platform” to share China’s experience in combating the virus, offering support to overseas Chinese and international friends, and receiving widespread acclaim from the international community.
It is reported that the “Real-Time COVID-19 Assistance Platform” has cumulatively served 2.26 million person-times, with total visits exceeding 160 million and a single-day peak of over 11 million visits. The WeDoctor Global Anti-Epidemic Platform has been recommended by more than 170 Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, providing epidemic prevention services to 3.26 million people in over 220 countries and regions.
Fan Jiping believes that internet hospitals are the fundamental vehicle for the digital upgrading of the healthcare industry and a key lever for implementing healthcare reforms. Over the past decade, WeDoctor has remained committed to data-driven entrepreneurship, continuously meeting the public’s routine demand for high-quality medical and health services.

In 2015, WeDoctor established the nation’s first internet hospital—the Wuzhen Internet Hospital—pioneering integrated healthcare services in China, including online consultations, prescription circulation, and online payments. WeDoctor’s General Internet Hospital extensively connects supply-side resources such as medical institutions at all levels and physicians, continuously promoting the large-scale implementation and operation of new business models across the country. To date, WeDoctor’s General Internet Hospital has launched 30 internet hospitals in China, 18 of which are designated medical insurance providers. It has connected more than 7,600 hospitals, 22 chronic disease management centers, and 26,000 primary healthcare institutions, with over 250,000 physicians practicing online, delivering healthcare services to more than 210 million registered users.
Regarding WeDoctor’s future plans, Fan Jiping stated recently while attending InnoHealth China (Sino-German Innovative Healthcare), an event hosted by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Europe’s largest applied research and development service organization: As a data-driven digital health platform, WeDoctor is implementing “Digital Health Communities” across China to provide substantial support for healthcare reform. The “Digital Health Community” integrates multiple stakeholders, including medical institutions, health insurance agencies, elderly care service providers, commercial insurance companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and pharmacies. It establishes an inclusive, shared, and equitable healthcare service system that spans both online and offline channels, delivering integrated digital health services to the public encompassing “medical consultation, disease management, and health maintenance.”
