On December 12, the digital health platform WeDoctor and the Chinese Alliance of Geriatric Medical Centers signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Beijing. The signing ceremony was attended and witnessed by Bai Shuzhong, Lifetime Honorary Chairman of the China Health Promotion Foundation; Li Xiaoying, Chairman of the Chinese Alliance of Geriatric Medical Centers; Liao Jieyuan, Chairman and CEO of WeDoctor Group; as well as the Vice Chairmen of the Chinese Alliance of Geriatric Medical Centers and the chairpersons of its regional alliances.
In accordance with the strategic agreement, both parties will leverage the WeDoctor platform as the primary entity to jointly establish the “China Internet + Geriatrics Service Platform.” This platform will provide remote consultations, health education, and health advisory services to elderly patients and medical-care institutions at all levels. Furthermore, by relying on the alliance’s team of experts, the initiative will conduct geriatric medicine training, instructional guidance, and academic exchanges, thereby promoting the development of geriatric specialties and the cultivation of professional talent.
Meanwhile, both parties will jointly launch health management services for Health Assurance Membership Cards, fully leveraging the decades of experience and achievements of the alliance’s renowned expert team in healthcare for cadres. Centered on health, these services will integrate offline physical institutions with online platforms to provide members with comprehensive, full-lifecycle closed-loop health management and health promotion services. This initiative aims to innovatively explore and establish a market-oriented healthcare service system, thereby maximizing the role of health management in “preventing major diseases, managing chronic conditions, and promoting overall health.”

As the pace of population aging accelerates, China will enter a stage of moderate aging during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the number of people aged 60 and above reached 250 million in 2019, accounting for 17.9% of the total population. Meanwhile, the health status of the elderly is concerning: 75% of older adults suffer from more than one chronic disease, and the number of disabled or partially disabled elderly has reached as high as 40 million. Healthy aging has become an inevitable path for China to actively respond to population aging.
In his address, Bai Shuzhong stated that the development of the “China Internet + Geriatrics Service Platform” aims to fully leverage technological innovation and the expertise of renowned geriatric specialists, thereby better meeting the diverse and multi-level medical and healthcare needs of the elderly and further improving their quality of life and well-being.
At the signing ceremony, Liao Jieyuan stated, “It is our shared responsibility to help the elderly integrate into the digital society and share in the benefits of technological innovation in the digital realm.” As a pioneer in the digital health industry, Weiyi aims to provide an internet platform for experts from the China Geriatric Medical Center Alliance through this collaboration, serving as a close link between experts and patients. By leveraging digital technology to replicate the capabilities of leading specialists and maximize their potential, Weiyi seeks to deliver comprehensive and efficient medical and healthcare services to patients across China.
The 14th Five-Year Plan proposes that, during the plan period, China should integrate “Internet+ Healthcare Services” to improve telemedicine projects and innovate telemedicine models. Professor Li Xiaoying stated that the signing of this strategic cooperation intention coincides with the inaugural year of the 14th Five-Year Plan, marking a new phase in the collaboration between both parties. It is hoped that both sides will uphold the principles of serving doctors and patients and pursuing joint development, thereby making greater contributions to the construction and advancement of geriatric medicine in China.
The China Geriatric Medical Center Alliance was jointly established in 2013, with the participation of geriatrics departments from more than 120 Grade A tertiary hospitals nationwide. It is committed to advancing the discipline construction and development of geriatric medicine and improving the diagnosis and treatment of geriatric diseases, serving as a core force in China’s elderly healthcare services and health care for senior cadres.
