VCBeat (WeChat: vcbeat) has learned that Manteia, a developer of adaptive radiotherapy systems, has completed an A-round financing worth hundreds of millions of yuan. This round was jointly invested by Redhill Capital (Series A) and Deyi Capital (Series A+), both renowned institutions in the healthcare sector.

Hardcore Technology and Globalization: Securing Strategic Capital Layouts

In 2018, Fosun made a strategic angel-round investment of tens of millions of yuan in Manteia. In the same year, it established a dedicated task force to travel overseas to assist the company in acquiring international patents, participate in the preparation and establishment of overseas operating entities, and help build a network of resource channels both domestically and internationally.

Amid the 2020 capital winter triggered by the pandemic, Redhill Capital led the Series A round and Deyi Capital led the Series A+ round, helping Manteia secure over RMB 100 million in its Series A financing. The three firms will pool resources from multiple parties to enable Manteia to gain a stronger competitive edge in the global radiotherapy product landscape.

Precision Radiotherapy and Domestic Substitution: New Challenges and New Opportunities

For a long time, international hardware giants have captured over 90% of the radiotherapy market, dictating the direction of technological development in this field. As domestic understanding of “precision radiotherapy” has deepened, there has been growing demand for technological transformation, efficiency improvements, and process innovation within this sector. Against the backdrop of policies promoting independent R&D and the substitution of imported products with domestically produced alternatives, China’s radiotherapy industry has experienced rapid growth, with a growth rate approaching 35%. These developments have provided fertile ground and opportunities for emerging domestic hard-tech enterprises to thrive, break through, and even surpass their competitors.

Manteia’s product portfolio primarily consists of Adaptive Radiation Therapy (ART) systems, commonly used radiotherapy modules, algorithm component libraries, and plugins. It provides more efficient and precise intelligent planning tools (such as auto-segmentation, auto-planning, and biological optimization) and systems for clinical treatment.

Algorithmic Innovation Is Not Limited to AI: Innovation Requires “Newness” but, More Importantly, Accumulation

Manteia is a radiotherapy technology R&D company centered on algorithmic innovation. By leveraging a hybrid architecture that integrates AI with traditional algorithms, Manteia positions “algorithmic innovation” as “optimization and integrative innovation,” going beyond mere “creation.” It employs algorithms to simulate clinical logic for addressing clinical challenges, thereby achieving precision, efficiency, and automation.

Team Adaptive Radiotherapy Research Group was first established in 2011, with nearly a decade of technical accumulation in the field of adaptive radiotherapy. Currently, it has independent laboratories and joint laboratories, 30 global joint research and development units, more than 80 ongoing projects, and over 20 international collaborative projects.

2020: Four Market Approvals Secured, Marking the Dawn of Global Commercialization

Within just one year, Manteia successively obtained product registration approvals from four major markets: the U.S. FDA, China’s NMPA (Class III), the European CE mark, and South Korea’s KFDA, becoming the first domestic radiotherapy company to secure market access credentials for China, the United States, Europe, and South Korea. The company has also achieved international quality system certifications, including ISO 13485 and MDSAP, paving the way for entry into the global radiotherapy market. Currently, its products are used in more than 300 leading hospitals worldwide, including those in the United States, Canada, and South Korea, serving thousands of patients every day.

Throughout its history, Manteia has adhered to the philosophy of “Empowering Life with Technology,” continuously introducing premier investment platforms to secure funding and high-quality resources. The company has established rigorous and professional research and product collaborations with medical institutions to drive technological innovation and product iteration. By fostering synergistic partnerships with upstream and downstream manufacturers, Manteia achieves mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. We sincerely invite more outstanding talents and partners to join us, working hand in hand with Manteia to co-create a new future for precision radiotherapy.
