Meanwhile, Dr. Ding Jinbiao, Director of the 302nd Hospital; Wu Kai, Executive Director of AstraZeneca; Han Lijun, Vice President of Eisai China; Han Shuolong, Clinical Operations Director at Yiling Pharmaceutical; Cheng Guoliang, Medical Director at Lunan Pharmaceutical Group; Xiao Liang, President of Fukang Health; Gu Jie, Partner at Guangzhao Investment; and Mao Donglei, Co-founder of Yanfaxike, also recorded congratulatory videos to extend their congratulations, as they were unable to attend the event in person due to the pandemic.

Leaders of the Development Zone pointed out that Wuqing is located at the intersection of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei Province, serving as a connecting hub between the two major cities of Beijing and Tianjin. It is an important component of the “One Axis, Four Cities” framework for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and a key node within the Capital Economic Circle. The convergence of personnel, logistics, capital, and information flows between Beijing and Tianjin endows Wuqing with unique locational advantages. The biopharmaceutical sector is a vital part of Wuqing’s “4+1” industrial structure. Over the years, we have attracted and cultivated a large number of high-quality projects, including Novogene and Chase Sun Pharmaceutical, generating significant social impact and achieving agglomeration advantages. Today’s signing ceremony for the “Clinical Research-Oriented Hospital” has further strengthened the park’s confidence and determination to promote industrial clustering. Moving forward, Wuqing will fully leverage Beijing’s core advantage as the primary source of innovation for China’s biopharmaceutical industry, rely on leading projects, build industrial platforms, guide industrial agglomeration, and accelerate the development of the biopharmaceutical industry, including pharmaceuticals, medical services, medical devices, biological health products, and biological big data.

Subsequently, Secretary-General Zhao Guiying pointed out: A clinical research-oriented hospital is a first-class institution committed to the generation and dissemination of new medical knowledge and technologies. By adhering to the parallel development of clinical practice and scientific research, it continuously fosters high-level talent and produces high-quality outcomes through independent innovation, thereby driving the continuous improvement of clinical diagnosis and treatment standards, and making significant contributions to healthcare services and human health. Currently, the number of institutions capable of conducting clinical trials remains limited, plagued by numerous challenges such as insufficient capacity, scarce resource allocation (including experts and hospital beds), lack of specialization, and inadequate prioritization. This has led to an imbalance between the supply and demand for clinical research resources. The traditional model of medical development can no longer keep pace with the rapid advancement of modern medical science and technology. It is therefore imperative to transform the development paradigm of hospitals; only by establishing research-oriented hospitals can we meet the intrinsic requirements of the development of modern clinical medical science.

Duan Zhongcheng, Founder of Linyantong

Duan Zhongcheng, founder of LinYanTong, also provided a detailed introduction to the project. LinYanTong is committed to enhancing the operational efficiency of clinical research through digitalization, achieving full-process electronic and paperless clinical trials. Additionally, by leveraging the construction of “clinical research-oriented” hospitals as a pilot initiative, the company aims to establish a novel model. Through the development of specialized clinical research data warehouses and driving internal organizational reforms and the establishment of new entities within offline healthcare institutions, LinYanTong seeks to realize true interoperability between clinical research data and medical care data. Therefore, the development of “clinical research-oriented” hospitals holds significant strategic importance for LinYanTong. If the project proceeds successfully, LinYanTong will emerge as a new paradigm in the field of clinical research.

Not long ago, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission pointed out in the “Implementation Plan for Strengthening the Research and Innovation Functions of Medical and Health Institutions in Beijing (2020–2022)”:Encourage and guide social capital to participate in the construction of research-oriented hospitals. After completion, these hospitals may be entrusted to medical institutions with experience in building research wards or conducting clinical trials for drugs and medical devices for operation and management through models such as franchising.. Encourage and guide existing hospitals to strengthen their research and innovation functions, transform into research-oriented hospitals, and launch the demonstration construction of two research-oriented hospitals in 2021. It is evident that establishing research-oriented hospitals is an inherent requirement and an inevitable path for the deepening reform of the healthcare system.

Upon completion, the hospital will focus on two core areas—geriatric medicine and oncology rehabilitation—driving the aggregation and development of a wide range of pharmaceutical and medical industries in the region. Wuqing’s locational advantages will effectively empower the hospital’s overall strategy, ushering in a new chapter for clinical trials in the healthcare industry.
