On December 28–29, Allergan Aesthetics, in partnership with the medical aesthetics industry media outlet “Meiye Guancha,” officially launched the “Aesthetic Anchor Creation Camp,” a flagship training program for medical aesthetics livestream hosts, in Shanghai. The first cohort of 50 anchors, selected from 226 applicants, gathered in Shanghai to undergo systematic training and engage in intensive exchanges.
The Editorial Director of Chinese Journal of Aesthetic Medicine was also invited to serve as a member of the selection committee for this event and participated in the formulation of the selection criteria.
With the rise of the “beauty economy,” the penetration rate of China’s medical aesthetics market has increased year by year, maintaining a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 20% for multiple consecutive years. It is gradually becoming an important component of China’s broader health industry and represents the most dynamic segment within consumer healthcare. However, while the medical aesthetics industry is booming, the market continues to face numerous irregularities and non-compliant practices of varying quality, which hinder the sector’s sustainable development.
Allergan Aesthetics has been committed to promoting the healthy, informed, and orderly development of the medical aesthetics industry, fulfilling its educational and training responsibilities as a leader and enabler, advocating for the reconstruction of new ecological relationships within the beauty and health industry, and making unique contributions to the standardization of the medical aesthetics market.
“Meiye Guancha” has joined forces with Allergan Aesthetics to co-host the Aesthetic Anchor Creator Camp, an initiative dedicated to recruiting and selecting influential anchors within the industry. Together, they aim to disseminate medical and aesthetic knowledge to both the industry and consumers, establish best-practice case studies, and jointly promote the sustainable development of the medical aesthetics market.
This Aesthetic Streamer Creation Camp is the first consumer market education initiative in China to implement the practical cross-boundary and interconnected concept of “Evidence-Based Medicine × Fashion Aesthetics,” demonstrating significant industry leadership and influence. It not only cultivates outstanding streamers for the industry but also commits to disseminating accurate and rigorous concepts and knowledge of medical aesthetics, promoting the standardized development of the sector, while empowering medical aesthetic institutions to build their core video-based PUGC (Professional User-Generated Content) capabilities.
As the “ultimate content format” of the mobile internet era, online video (including long-form, short-form, live-streamed, and recorded content) delivers more authentic and precise communication than traditional text, images, or audio. In particular, live streaming enables real-time interaction with customers, fulfilling brands’ ideal goal of forging genuine connections with consumers. Consequently, it is increasingly recognized as a highly effective marketing tool and a source of premium-quality marketing.
During the two-day Aesthetic Livestream Creator Camp, guided by the philosophy that “Aesthetic Medicine Livestreamers = Rigorous Medicine × Fashionable Aesthetics,” a scientifically structured and systematic training curriculum was implemented. Xu Yaqin, Head of the Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) China Innovation Center; Suo Lin, AMI Medical Education Consultant; and Dr. Peng Guangqun, Invited Training Mentor for Allergan Aesthetics, delivered rigorous and systematic training on professional medical knowledge to the livestreamers. Additionally, experts from various internet platforms in the aesthetic medicine sector—including the Head of Livestreaming & Video Consultation Services at So-Young, the Head of Merchant Content for Meituan’s Aesthetic Medicine Division, and an Operations Specialist for Alibaba’s Aesthetic Medicine Livestreaming—were invited to share industry big data insights and case studies.
The highlight of this training session was the group-based live streaming simulation competition, through which a panel of expert judges selected outstanding hosts and high-potential hosts. The participants’ impressive performances received high acclaim from the judging panel.
It is reported that the 50 anchors in the first cohort of the Aesthetic Anchor Creation Camp had an average age of 31.2 years, with females accounting for 88.2%. They hailed from 14 provinces and 19 cities. In terms of the number of selected participants by city, the top three were: Hangzhou ranking first with 19.6%, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Chengdu tied for second with 9.8% each, and Xi’an ranking third with 7.8%. Regarding educational background, 21.5% held associate degrees, 66.7% held bachelor’s degrees, and 11.8% held master’s degrees. In terms of experience, 41.1% had more than one year of live-streaming experience in the medical aesthetics industry, and 21.5% had conducted over 100 live-streaming sessions.
These 50 streamers have diverse backgrounds, including platform-contracted streamers and independent streamers, though the majority are in-house streamers employed by medical aesthetic hospitals and clinics. Many well-known chain medical aesthetic institutions have already established dedicated positions for medical aesthetic streamers.
Ms. Zhou Yu, Founder and CEO of Aesthetic Industry Observer, the event organizer, stated that confidence, enthusiasm, and integrity; dual professional expertise in both medical and aesthetic knowledge; and a sincere commitment to serving consumers and creating positive experiences for beauty seekers are the most essential qualities for medical aesthetics livestream hosts. These attributes also represent the core professional competencies prioritized by the Aesthetic Livestream Host Training Camp.
As the representative of the event organizer, Mr. Guan Hong, Head of Consumer Marketing and Digital Marketing at Allergan Aesthetics, stated that the successful hosting of the Aesthetic Livestream Creator Camp yielded feedback that exceeded expectations. This initiative represents a practical integration of medical aesthetics science, consumers, physicians, and institutions. By leveraging the communicative influence of livestreamers, it delivers authoritative, needs-based, and scientifically grounded information on aesthetic enhancement to consumers via live broadcasting, thereby better empowering both institutions and the industry as a whole.
