RuiMei Cloud Files IPO Prospectus: Empowering Nearly 200 Aesthetic Clinics with Precision SaaS Operations

Jan 29, 2021 08:00 CST Updated 08:00

As the ecosystem of the medical aesthetics industry evolves and the concept of informatization becomes widely adopted, Medical Aesthetics SaaS systems have become one of the essential infrastructures for the operational management of medical aesthetics institutions. However, misconceptions about SaaS still persist within the industry during its actual development process.

Aesthetic medicine clinics acquire services by purchasing SaaS systems; therefore, SaaS providers should place greater emphasis on service content, offering companion-style support to aid clinic operations and meet the varying needs that arise at different stages of development. However, although some SaaS providers recognize the pain points in the aesthetic medicine industry, their insufficient in-depth understanding and knowledge accumulation often result in a mismatch between client needs and the services provided.

Born in Chengdu, the “Capital of Medical Aesthetics,” NewRay Technology has developed RuiMei Cloud, an intelligent management platform covering the entire workflow of in-hospital operations, customer experience, and maintenance. Leveraging the founding team’s nearly 20 years of experience in managing plastic surgery institutions and maintaining client marketing relationships, the platform serves various aesthetic surgery providers, including outpatient clinics, chain hospitals, and physician-partner hospitals, to comprehensively meet industry demands.

Since officially entering the market in April 2020, Ruimei Cloud has gained recognition and established collaborations with nearly 200 medical institutions and several publicly listed medical aesthetics companies, while its original 15 seed clients have also renewed their contracts. By adopting the Ruimei Cloud system, these institutions have achieved significant revenue growth and cost reduction.

Leveraging SaaS, with Service as the Core

Ruimei Cloud’s rapid growth is partly attributable to its founding team’s deep understanding of the healthcare industry and robust R&D capabilities.

Based on past experience, the founding team of Ruimei Cloud comprises senior operational executives from leading medical aesthetics companies, Microsoft Office 365 SaaS experts, and overseas-returnee entrepreneurs. In the early stages of team formation, they developed intelligent service systems for Grade A tertiary hospitals such as West China Hospital and Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, accumulating extensive experience in platform design tailored to specific needs.

As the team gained deeper insights into the industry, it identified both the rapid growth of the consumer healthcare sector and the underlying weaknesses in its information management systems. To thoroughly understand the current state of the medical aesthetics industry, the team conducted systematic learning and job rotations at plastic surgery hospitals during the early stages of market research and product development. This experience laid a solid foundation of industry knowledge for the subsequent establishment of Niurui Technology and the development of the Ruimei Cloud Platform.

From Ruimei Cloud’s perspective, SaaS is less a software technical architecture and more a business model—its true value lies in delivering continuous services to customers on the foundation of high-quality software products. Therefore, leveraging its deep understanding of the industry and various job roles, Ruimei Cloud has continuously refined its system through ongoing accumulation and iteration. Every detail, from button-level interactions to end-to-end business processes, has been meticulously designed by the team. It is precisely this profound industry expertise that has earned Ruimei Cloud consistent recognition and trust within the sector.

From a technical perspective, Ruimei Cloud adopts an underlying architecture featuring a central hub with multiple nodes. After purchasing the system and implementing private deployment, institutions can achieve automated unified management and data operations and maintenance (O&M) through the central platform. To address the diverse needs of different enterprises, Ruimei Cloud leverages a scalable performance architecture to rapidly respond to customization requirements.

Leverage big data to achieve refined operations

From the moment consumers enter a medical aesthetics clinic, through project consultations, to their final decision-making, the institution can gain insights into consumer needs, satisfaction with various service offerings, and acceptance of its marketing models.

To some extent, these data and information themselves constitute an intangible asset for institutions. However, in practice, many institutions lack refined consumer data analytics and have failed to establish high-efficiency proprietary traffic pools, resulting in challenges such as difficult and costly customer acquisition.

To address this pain point, Ruimei Cloud proposes the strategy of “converting traffic into retained customers and effectively implementing acquisition, retention, loyalty, and upselling.” This approach first equips institutions with granular, customer-level operational capabilities, supplemented by a methodology for driving repeat purchases and organic referral-based growth among existing private-domain customers. As a result, the previously necessary budget allocation of 10–20% for new customer acquisition is drastically reduced. Instead, institutions can counter high external customer acquisition costs through low-cost strategies centered on existing-customer referrals and repeat business, thereby fostering a virtuous cycle in institutional operations.

The prerequisite for achieving all this is a robust set of tools and best-practice methodologies, along with the ability to effectively leverage in-hospital data to drive operations and optimize processes. Therefore, Ruimei Cloud seamlessly integrates technologies such as big data and AI into the business workflows of medical aesthetic institutions. Starting with the analysis of patients’ visit purposes and behaviors, it establishes standardized procedures and internal control checkpoints to achieve full lifecycle patient management. Through data analytics and visualization, it provides decision support for follow-up engagements and the formulation of marketing strategies tailored to different patient segments, thereby enabling precision marketing.

In terms of customer management, Ruimei Cloud’s proprietary 3D modeling facial consultation is another highlight of the system. By leveraging the structured light camera technology of iPhones to scan customers’ faces, it enables low-cost, high-precision real-time 3D modeling without the need for additional hardware. This reduces the entry barrier and costs for medical aesthetic institutions, effectively enhancing the management of customer cases.

By integrating 3D modeling-based facial consultations, Ruimei Cloud has launched a series of online service models—including remote virtual consultations, video consultations, and text-and-image consultations—centered on the concept of full-scenario remote aesthetic medicine consultations. With the exception of treatments that must be performed offline, all other services, such as inquiries and consultations, can be completed online.

The industry-specific characteristics of customer lifecycle management necessitate the integration of service platforms. Therefore, Ruimei Cloud creates private-domain traffic for medical aesthetic institutions by synergizing its SaaS platform, Mini Programs, Enterprise WeChat, and the Ruimei Cloud App. These modules complement each other, covering online and offline data collection and customer engagement to achieve digital in-clinic operations and customer value management. By integrating modules such as channel management, in-clinic ERP, and Healthcare Information Systems (HIS), Ruimei Cloud not only reduces operational and customer acquisition costs but also improves customer retention and repurchase rates.

As market expansion deepens, Ruimei Cloud is also actively broadening its service offerings by seamlessly integrating more technical services into medical aesthetic scenarios.

Building an Ecosystem for the Medical Aesthetics Industry to Support Physicians in Establishing Clinics

Another pain point in the medical aesthetics industry is the weak connectivity among various sub-sectors, where single-point functionalities and services fail to meet consumers’ holistic needs. To address this, Ruimei Cloud fosters an industry ecosystem by selecting and supporting alliances of specialized serious medical disciplines, enabling enterprise interconnectivity, establishing a shared membership system, and promoting the sharing and circulation of traffic within the ecosystem.

As a foundational business service provider, Ruimei Cloud offers enterprises an industry-specific informatization ecosystem, vertically connecting customers, enterprises, third-party services, and upstream supply-side stakeholders, while horizontally facilitating interconnectivity among customers.

After establishing its industry ecosystem, Ruimei Cloud will provide operational support services to physicians and specialists, aligning with the future trend of “small yet exquisite” physician-led hospitals.

Currently, China lacks dedicated medical aesthetics majors and a systematic, standardized educational framework in this field; consequently, professionals in medical aesthetics are primarily drawn from backgrounds in surgery and dermatology. However, compared to countries with more mature medical aesthetics industries, such as Japan and South Korea, China has a significantly lower number of plastic surgeons per capita, which substantially constrains the industry’s growth rate. Furthermore, unlike the trend observed abroad, the proportion of physicians in China’s domestic medical aesthetics market who establish their own practices and build personal brands remains relatively low.

In recent years, policies encouraging physicians to start their own ventures have been successively introduced. However, in the process of entrepreneurship, doctors face challenges such as brand building and ensuring effective operational management of their institutions. In response, Ruimei Cloud will serve as an invisible managerial hand for physician-led hospitals by offering services including personal IP development and operational support, providing industry-standard operating procedures and opening up traffic channels.
