Book via mobile, get sampled at home, and check results online... On January 25, WeDoctor Internet General Hospital launched its COVID-19 nucleic acid testing platform. By offering two service models—testing at public hospitals and door-to-door sampling by third-party professional institutions—the platform establishes a closed-loop service integrating “online + offline” and “in-hospital + out-of-hospital” workflows. Travelers can complete appointment scheduling, payment, and result verification on their mobile phones, while also receiving free services such as online anti-epidemic consultations and popular science education on epidemic prevention.
To schedule an appointment, users can open the WeDoctor app and select the “Online Appointment for Nucleic Acid Testing” section, or follow the “WeDoctor” official WeChat account and choose “Quick National Nucleic Acid Testing Appointment” under the “Real-Time Epidemic Situation” menu to access the booking platform. For those requiring home service, click “Book Home Service,” enter the sample collection address and preferred time, and a professional will arrive at the scheduled time to collect the sample. Users who prefer testing at public hospitals can select “Search and Book Hospital.” The platform will display available hospitals based on the user’s city, allowing them to book an appointment at the nearest facility.
It is understood that the platform’s home-visit services cover 47 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou. The service supports single-person home visits and adopts an online method for report retrieval, with reports issued in as fast as 12 hours to facilitate citizens’ travel arrangements for returning home. Meanwhile, the platform’s hospital-based testing services span 15 provinces and municipalities directly under the central government, covering approximately 40 key public hospitals, where reports can be accessed through the hospitals’ online channels.
With the arrival of the Spring Festival travel rush, epidemic prevention and control efforts across various regions are facing new challenges. The National Health Commission has explicitly required that individuals returning to their hometowns must present a negative nucleic acid test result obtained within the previous seven days. To facilitate public access, local governments have published lists of authorized nucleic acid testing institutions, and many internet platforms have also launched nucleic acid testing services.
Leveraging its extensive online experience in pandemic response and capitalizing on its broad regional coverage and robust medical resources, WeDoctor Internet General Hospital rapidly launched a one-stop suite of epidemic prevention services—including COVID-19 nucleic acid testing, online consultations, free charitable clinics for pandemic relief, and expert-led health education—by coordinating with its network of 30 internet hospitals across China.
It is reported that as early as the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, WeDoctor Internet General Hospital rapidly launched the “Real-Time Assistance Platform for COVID-19,” continuously providing services such as online consultations, psychological support, online follow-up visits, insurance-covered medication, and public health education on epidemic prevention. The platform has delivered over 2.28 million free consultations, emerging as a key “airborne force” in pandemic control efforts. Recently, to support frontline anti-epidemic efforts in Hebei Province, WeDoctor Internet General Hospital swiftly mobilized resources to launch a dedicated Hebei Anti-Epidemic Zone, rallying experts nationwide to provide online assistance and offer 24-hour free consultation services to Hebei.
“Internet hospitals offer the advantages of remote access, professionalism, convenience, and efficiency in epidemic prevention and control. In response to the special requirements for epidemic prevention during the Spring Festival, Weiyi not only provides nucleic acid testing services for COVID-19 but has also kept its real-time COVID-19 assistance platform freely accessible,” said a representative from Weiyi. The company stated that it will continue to collaborate with more service platforms and institutions across China, leveraging “Internet+” solutions to facilitate public access and support epidemic prevention and control efforts.
