The Implementation Opinions on Advancing the Healthy Wenzhou Action Plan, issued in November 2020, explicitly set forth the goal of establishing by 2022 a health service system centered on citizens’ health that integrates prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and health promotion, aligned with Wenzhou’s level of economic and social development and its urban functional positioning.

As a leading international digital health platform, WeDoctor extensively connects supply-side resources, including medical institutions at all levels and physicians. It has pioneered new business models in China, such as online diagnosis and treatment, prescription circulation, and online medical insurance payments, while also serving as an innovator in the Digital Health Community model. As of October 2020, WeDoctor operated 16 physical medical institutions and 30 internet hospitals, connecting more than 7,600 hospitals, over 250,000 doctors, and more than 214 million users across China. Last September, acting as the chairing entity, WeDoctor joined forces with dozens of member organizations covering the entire industry chain to establish the “Yangtze River Delta Digital Health Industry Chain Alliance,” promoting the development of the digital health industry in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Chen Hongming stated that Wenzhou has conducted many beneficial explorations in the field of digital health. The Wenzhou Medical Imaging Cloud Platform is the largest medical imaging cloud platform in Zhejiang Province, achieving interconnectivity among hospitals across the city and playing a significant role in cloud-based diagnosis and treatment as well as cloud services. He expressed hope that WeDoctor would leverage its coordinating role to support Wenzhou’s digital transformation in healthcare and the establishment of a premier medical hub, thereby making new contributions to better serving public health.
“Against the backdrop of universal health coverage, ‘Internet + Healthcare Security’ will bridge the last mile for patients seeking medical care,” said Peng Weibin. He emphasized that healthcare security authorities must keep pace with the times by adopting a more proactive stance and an innovative spirit. Within the bounds of laws and policies, they should accelerate institutional optimization and process reengineering to integrate with the internet, thereby driving innovation in top-level design and fostering strong partnerships and resource sharing.
Wenzhou boasts abundant, high-quality medical resources. By leveraging digital technologies, the city can comprehensively elevate its healthcare standards and enhance its capacity to serve surrounding regions. Dr. Wang Yang stated that WeDoctor Group will fully utilize its decade of successful experience in exploring digital health to introduce premium medical resources from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and the Yangtze River Delta into Wenzhou. This initiative aims to raise the level of regional digital health and, through digital technologies, improve the quality and efficiency of medical services across the Yangtze River Delta, thereby creating a demonstration zone for public well-being covering 30 million people in southern Zhejiang, northern Fujian, and eastern Jiangxi.
