Botulinum toxin is a toxin secreted by strains of Clostridium botulinum. Although there are many strain types, only a small subset secretes toxins that are effective in humans. Currently, seven strain types (A–G) have been studied, each comprising numerous subtypes.
Currently, Type A strains exhibit the highest susceptibility in humans. Among these, three strains—Hall, ATCC 3502, and ATCC 19397—are currently approved for therapeutic use in humans. The Hall and ATCC 3502 strains are already widely used in the market, whereas there is no evidence yet of the development or utilization of the ATCC 19397 strain.
Encouragingly, INIBIO, Inc. of South Korea has achieved a breakthrough. The company has successfully developed and commercialized a botulinum toxin product using the ATCC 19397 strain for the first time. This product is called INIBO, also known as “Jade Toxin.”
Although the ATCC 19397 strain used in INIBO was adopted for therapeutic purposes later than the other two strains, it has a long history. The ATCC 19397 strain holds the earliest registration number at the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC). The INIBO product, manufactured using the ATCC 19397 strain obtained through formal channels—including approval by eight South Korean government agencies—is free from any risks related to strain sourcing, and its quality is assured through the Quality by Design (QbD) system.
INIBO’s nickname “Jade Toxin” stems from its ultra-high purity (100%) and brand color.

According to reports from the relevant companies,“Yinebao” completed Phase I and Phase II clinical trials in South Korea under the project code “INI101” and obtained export approval for the product. The company’s team has extensive experience in obtaining health authority approvals in the United States, Europe, Canada, and many other countries. Therefore, when developing the product INIBO, the company made preparations for entering markets in China, Europe, and the United States. In addition to type A botulinum toxin, the company is also developing the world’s first type E botulinum toxin product.
