On March 21, coinciding with World Sleep Day, Zhejiang Kaiyuan Hotel Management Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Kaiyuan Hotels”) and Shanghai Zhikao Health Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Zhikao Tech”) reached a strategic cooperation agreement in Hangzhou on the “Oxygen-Enriched Ecological Sleep-Assist Room” project. The two parties will join forces to carry out close collaboration in areas such as brand marketing, product integration, omnichannel promotion, and new retail in hotel lobbies, jointly creating a new business model that combines “Oxygen-Enriched Ecological Sleep-Assist Rooms” with “Tech-Enabled Sleep Spaces.”
According to relevant data, the average sleep duration of Chinese people decreased from 8 hours and 50 minutes in 2013 to 6 hours and 30 minutes in 2018, representing a 35% decline over six years. Furthermore, data released by the Chinese Sleep Research Society in 2016 revealed that the prevalence of insomnia among Chinese adults reached as high as 38.2%. The growing demand for sleep-related products and sleep aids has also spurred the rise of the “sleep economy.”
As we entered 2021, emerging from a period of rest and recovery, everyone was eager to embark on a new life and had learned how to better care for their physical and mental well-being. The original intention and purpose of World Sleep Day is precisely to awaken people to the importance of prioritizing their quality of life, thereby enabling them to harness greater energy to cope with their surrounding environment.
Chen Miaoqiang, President of Kaiyuan Hotel Group
Chen Miaoqiang, President of Kaiyuan Hotel Group, stated that providing customers with the optimal living and sleeping environment is the lifelong pursuit of hotel professionals. Through this collaboration, Kaiyuan Hotels will adopt a customer-centric approach, partnering with technology companies in a cross-industry alliance to create a new guestroom experience and enhance the quality of stay for guests.
Kaiyuan Hotels Group plans to leverage its robust traffic platform and leading technical standards to create “Oxygen-Rich Eco-Friendly Sleep-Enhancing Rooms.” Meanwhile, Zhikao Technology will utilize the high-quality, highly compatible hotel customer resources provided by Kaiyuan Hotels Group to continuously deepen service offerings for hotel guests, thereby improving the utilization rate of hotel resources and overall hotel revenue.

Xu Zhao, CEO of Zhikao Technology
Xu Zhao, CEO of Zhikao Technology, stated that since its establishment in 2017, Zhikao has integrated new material technology (NM), the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI) with sleep spaces to create an “Oxygen-Rich Ecological Sleep Aid System.” This system recreates an indoor natural environment mimicking Earth’s ecology, embodying a human-centric intelligent sleep-aid space.

In enclosed indoor spaces, the lack of fresh air leads to a sharp rise in carbon dioxide levels, reduced oxygen content, and a significant decrease in negative ion concentration. In contrast, the Oxygen-Enriched Eco-Sleep Guest Room features a system that effectively regulates indoor air quality and maintains an appropriate concentration of negative oxygen ions, allowing guests to breathe fresh, natural air and creating a premium sleep environment.
During operation, the Oxygen-Enriched Ecological Sleep Aid System fully leverages the photosynthetic properties of novel materials to simulate an terrestrial photosynthetic ecosystem indoors, thereby reducing carbon dioxide concentrations and optimizing overall indoor environmental quality. Furthermore, as the system is wall-mounted, it not only significantly increases the surface area available for photosynthesis but also conserves interior living space. With a thickness of only 10 mm, the system provides certain sound-absorbing and noise-reducing benefits. The photosynthetic process generates an environment rich in negative oxygen ions, contributing to fresher air and wellness benefits, while enhancing users’ physiological and psychological comfort.
Driven by IoT data, the system leverages AI cloud computing to collect and analyze real-time indoor environmental data, while integrating big data such as real-time outdoor conditions and satellite-based weather forecasts. It dynamically adjusts the indoor environment without generating secondary pollution or indoor noise. The intelligent humidity control function maintains optimal perceived humidity for human comfort by adapting to complex environmental variables, including solar terms, geographic location, and indoor-outdoor temperature differentials. This effectively prevents mold growth and reduces reliance on appliances such as fresh air systems, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and humidifiers.
Real-time and historical data collected by the system are accessible across various scenarios, including hotel lobbies, guest rooms, mobile apps, and WeChat, thereby achieving transparency in indoor environmental data. As the system enables an Earth-like ecological self-circulation for indoor environments, it operates without energy consumption for 95% of the time, truly realizing the goals of energy conservation, emission reduction, and low-carbon environmental protection.

In addition, the Oxygen-Enriched Ecological Sleep Aid System features functions such as sterilization and disinfection, formaldehyde removal, alleviation of allergy symptoms, and physical settlement of PM2.5 and PM10. It can effectively inactivate harmful microorganisms, including fungi, SARS virus, coronaviruses, H1N1 avian influenza, and influenza viruses. According to data from TÜV laboratory reports, the system achieves a sterilization efficacy rate of 99.5%.
Furthermore, the oxygen-enriched ecological sleep aid system can physically settle PM2.5 and PM10, while also removing inhalable particulate matter such as dust, fumes, and smoke. Tested for 24 hours by nationally accredited authoritative laboratories, the removal rate reaches up to 99.9%.
By joining forces with Zhikao Technology, Kaiyuan Hotel Group will gradually roll out its initiative across all hotel brands under its portfolio. The plan involves upgrading more than 20,000 guest rooms and creating new technology-enabled sleep-assistance spaces. Together, the two parties will launch a signature themed room designed specifically for business travelers—the Oxygen-Rich Eco-Sleep Room—aimed at delivering superior indoor environmental experiences that promote rest, relaxation, and sleep. This collaboration seeks to drive transformation and innovation within the hospitality industry, thereby creating greater value for guests and society at large.
