【Pharmaceutical Network Enterprise NewsRecently, StairMed announced the completion of a 500 million yuan strategic financing round. With the strong injection of this funding, the company will accelerate its efforts in technological breakthroughs and clinical advancements, and plans to initiate large-scale registration and clinical trials for its brain-computer interface products while advancing a diversified product pipeline within the year.
Notably, following the completion of this financing round, StairMed has accumulated over 1.1 billion yuan in financing within the past year. In February 2025, the company successfully closed a B-round financing totaling 350 million yuan. At that time, it planned to use these funds to accelerate the clinical trial process for its products, intensify the development of next-generation technologies, and establish a medical-grade MEMS production base.
Data shows that StairMed is a professional enterprise focusing on the field of minimally invasive implantable brain-machine interfaces (BMI). With strong original R&D capabilities, the company has mastered technologies covering electrodes, systems, algorithms, and surgery.
RobotIncluding multiple technologies such as... Currently, with continuous capital injection, the company's clinical implementation, technological iteration, and production capacity construction are all accelerating.
It is reported that, in terms of technology, the company has independently developed ultra-flexible electrodes with a thickness of 1/100 of a hair and an invasive brain-computer implant. By 2025, it had completed a prospective clinical trial of invasive brain-computer interfaces in China, and the product entered the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) innovation "green channel."
In early 2026, StairMed completed the clinical implantation of its proprietary 256-channel invasive brain-computer interface system (WRS02) for registration, utilizing its self-developed surgical robot. In addition, its closed-loop ultra-low damage deep brain neurostimulation system (Deep Brain Stimulation System) has also completed four clinical research implant surgeries, verifying its modulation function, with plans to initiate clinical trials in 2027.
Moreover, while accelerating the clinical implementation of "brain-computer" products, StairMed is actively expanding its product portfolio in the field of neuromodulation. According to reports, relying on ultra-flexible microelectrode technology that rivals or even surpasses Neuralink in core metrics such as micro size and flexibility, the company has successfully developed a closed-loop ultra-low damage deep brain stimulation system.
Currently, StairMed is building momentum for a broader clinical layout. It plans to initiate large-scale, multi-center registration clinical trials by mid-2026, aiming to complete the enrollment and implant surgeries of approximately 40 patients within the year. By the end of 2026, the total number of clinical implants performed by StairMed is expected to approach or even surpass the current total of clinical trials conducted by Neuralink (currently around 21 cases).
With the strong injection of this round of financing, StairMed's clinical approval and commercialization are expected to accelerate. Notably, since 2026, financing in the brain-computer interface track has been intensively completed. In addition to StairMed, companies such as BrainCo have also successively secured large-scale financing.
Industry analysis suggests that, overall, the industry is showing characteristics of enormous financing scale, capital focus on clinical applications, and deep integration between leading companies and industrial chains. In the future, with capital focusing on clinical registration and large-scale manufacturing, and both invasive and non-invasive approaches advancing simultaneously, the industry is expected to move from the technology exploration phase towards commercial implementation.
