Internet Comprehensive Service Provider
On March 28, Tencent officially launched Tencent Cloud Doctor, a one-stop cloud-based workspace designed for physicians. Through this platform, doctors can rapidly provide patients with comprehensive online services across the entire care continuum, including health education, patient management, and follow-up consultations for return visits. The launch ceremony was attended by Tang Daosheng, Senior Executive Vice President of Tencent and President of the Cloud and Smart Industries Group; Zhang Meng, Vice President of Tencent Healthcare; Dong Jiahong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital; as well as representatives from Tencent’s ecosystem partners, including Xu Lin, COO of Penguin Almond Group; Ma Xuguang, Founder and CEO of Simpie Health Technology; Li Ji, President and Co-CEO of Simpie Health Technology; Deng Yuande, Special Assistant to the Chairman of Yidu Cloud; and Fang Haibo, General Manager of Tencent Healthcare Ecosystem Products.

According to the “Survey Report on Doctors’ Online Consultation Behaviors” (hereinafter referred to as the “User Survey”), jointly conducted by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Tencent, nearly 90% of doctors communicate with patients via internet hospitals or third-party consultation platforms when conditions permit.
Tang Daosheng, Senior Executive Vice President of Tencent and President of the Cloud and Smart Industries Group, stated, “Tencent aims to fully leverage its connectivity and technological capabilities, collaborate with ecosystem partners, and provide user-friendly digital tools to help physicians establish ‘cloud-based consultation rooms.’ This initiative is designed to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and economic benefits of healthcare services, while working alongside physicians to build a comprehensive, lifecycle-oriented patient health management system.”
Zhang Meng, Vice President of Tencent Healthcare, pointed out that physicians are the primary providers of medical services. Through Tencent Cloud Doctor, the company aims to equip each physician with a dedicated intelligent assistant. This initiative seeks to break the physical and temporal constraints of traditional doctor-patient interactions, establishing new forms of digital, precision connectivity. Furthermore, by leveraging mini-programs, it partially transplants the atmosphere and services of offline professional care to online platforms, thereby enhancing physicians’ work efficiency and improving patients’ healthcare experience.
In his address, Dong Jiahong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, stated, “We hope that the Tencent Cloud Medical Platform can empower physicians, expand medical services, extend advanced and high-quality medical resources to remote areas, and make significant contributions to advancing the development of internet-based healthcare in China.”
With the advent of the 5G era, the maturation of technologies such as artificial intelligence, and the catalyst effect of the pandemic, internet technology has increasingly permeated public healthcare and daily life. According to user surveys, approximately 50% of physicians refer suitable outpatients to online platforms for management. During the process of online patient management, the lack of efficient methods to onboard offline patients remains a key pain point for physicians.

Tencent Cloud Healthcare utilizes WeChat Mini Programs as its platform, eliminating the need for doctors and patients to download separate apps. Patients can simply scan a QR code to “check in” with their physician, consult on questions arising during treatment, and receive messages from doctors such as outpatient notifications and follow-up reminders. All interactions between doctors and patients are delivered via WeChat’s “Service Notifications,” ensuring convenient and timely access, as well as prompt, smooth, and effective communication.

User research also revealed that most doctors focus on using one or two core platforms to meet all their functional needs in the process of online patient management. In addition to patient quality and platform reputation, user experience and convenience (such as automated tools like pre-consultation) are the third most important factors for doctors when choosing an internet platform.
Fang Haibo, General Manager of Tencent’s Medical Ecosystem Products, stated, “We have found that there are still many unmet needs among doctors in the use of online diagnosis and treatment tools. Therefore, Tencent Cloud Doctor aims to fully leverage Tencent’s long-accumulated capabilities in user insights, product development, and operations to provide doctors with user-friendly and practical one-stop digital tools, making them a standard part of doctors’ work.”
Specifically, physicians can group patients based on keywords tailored to individual conditions, enabling efficient and refined batch management. In the pre-consultation phase, Tencent Healthcare offers pre-consultation templates that capture patients’ basic information and disease status through intelligent dialogues, thereby reducing the time physicians spend on manual inquiries. During diagnosis and treatment, Tencent Healthcare collaborates with teams of authoritative experts to develop standardized out-of-hospital management plan templates for more than ten common chronic diseases. Physicians can assign appropriate management plans to patients, and the system will automatically deliver patient education materials, medication reminders, and other content based on the patient’s disease progression cycle, ensuring long-term, scientific, and standardized intervention. During the follow-up consultation phase, Tencent Healthcare enables intelligent follow-ups; when necessary, physicians can communicate with patients to transition them to offline outpatient visits, ensuring comprehensive treatment efficacy.

Furthermore, Tencent Cloud Doctor provides physicians with personalized services—including voice-based patient education, a professional medical illustration library, one-click conversion of text and images into videos, and PC-based editing capabilities—to facilitate convenient and efficient creation of popular science content. High-quality content will be distributed across Tencent’s full-content ecosystem, including Tencent News and Tencent KanDian, thereby enhancing physicians’ influence and patient reach. In the future, Tencent Cloud Doctor will also develop supporting tools to assist physicians in clinical research.

The integrated disease management platform is inextricably linked to close collaboration with ecosystem partners. To this end, at the launch ceremony, Tencent Cloud Healthcare entered into strategic partnerships with Penguin Almond, SiPi Health Technology, and Yidu Cloud, respectively. By fully leveraging their respective resource advantages, these parties will jointly build a comprehensive service network for physicians, enabling a significant leap in physicians’ professional value and capabilities, enhancing their sense of fulfillment and well-being, and driving the digital transformation and upgrading of the entire healthcare industry.
