“Smart Assistant” on Mobile Phones: Building Digital Connections Between Doctors and Patients

With the advent of the 5G era, the maturation of technologies such as artificial intelligence, and the catalyst effect of the pandemic, internet technology has increasingly permeated public healthcare and daily life. According to user surveys, approximately 50% of physicians refer suitable outpatient patients to online platforms for management. A key pain point for physicians in the process of online patient management is the lack of efficient methods to onboard offline patients.

According to the “Survey Report on Physicians’ Online Consultation Behavior” (hereinafter referred to as the “User Survey”), jointly conducted by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Tencent, nearly 90% of physicians communicate with patients via internet hospitals or third-party consultation platforms when conditions permit.

Zhang Meng, Vice President of Tencent Healthcare, pointed out that physicians are the primary providers of medical services. Through Tencent Cloud Doctor, the company aims to equip each physician with a dedicated intelligent assistant. This initiative seeks to break the physical and temporal constraints of traditional doctor-patient interactions, establishing a new model of digital, precision connectivity. Furthermore, by leveraging mini-programs, it partially transplants the atmosphere and services of offline professional care to online platforms, thereby enhancing physicians’ work efficiency and improving patients’ healthcare experience.

Leverage the long-term connectivity of internet-based healthcare to jointly build a comprehensive service network for physicians.

Xu Lin, COO of Penguin Almond Group, stated at the conference that the borderless nature and long-term connectivity of the internet have significantly improved medical adherence and effectiveness. Leveraging internet-based characteristics, products like Tencent Cloud Doctor enable genuine long-term connectivity in healthcare services, helping physicians effectively organize patient feedback and providing substantial support for scientific research.

As early as 2014, Penguin Almond began launching a multi-site practice platform for physicians, establishing online connections between patients and doctors through an internet healthcare platform’s review system, consultative interactions, and feedback channels, thereby truly realizing the connection between doctors and patients. Xu Lin, COO of Penguin Almond Group, stated that internet healthcare builds a platform to optimize production relations; meanwhile, through information distribution, the doctor-patient relationship is further optimized, enabling a leap in physicians’ professional value and capabilities, and enhancing their sense of gain and well-being.

Centered on family physician services, Penguin Almond Group leverages intelligent technologies such as AI and big data to connect online with 450,000 contracted and certified physicians, while linking offline to a multi-format clinic network offering primary care, specialized medical services, surgical center services, and corporate health services. The group provides patients with one-stop healthcare solutions encompassing “pre-consultation, diagnostic and treatment support, home medication delivery, and post-diagnosis guidance,” thereby creating an integrated online-to-offline healthcare service loop.

Penguin Almond Group has pioneered a new MOB (Medical Office Building) model for physicians and physician groups, fostering a “shared and mutually beneficial” healthcare ecosystem. This initiative aims to empower more medical professionals, promote the sharing of high-quality medical resources, and deliver one-stop, differentiated healthcare services that are readily accessible to patients.
