At 9:00 a.m. on April 17, the progress meeting for PreCar, China’s first prospective clinical cohort study involving 10,000 liver cancer patients, will be held in Fuzhou.

China is a country with a high incidence of liver cancer, accounting for more than 50% of new global cases annually. The vast majority of patients are diagnosed at intermediate or advanced stages, having missed the optimal window for treatment. Achieving early screening, diagnosis, and treatment of liver cancer, and enhancing its prevention and control, are crucial measures for safeguarding the health of the Chinese population.

To effectively implement the cancer prevention and control objectives outlined in the “Healthy China 2030” Planning Outline and to further advance the clinical application of early screening technologies for liver cancer, the “National Multicenter Prospective Project on Ultra-Early Warning and Screening for Liver Cancer (PreCar) Progress Meeting and the First Summit Forum on Precision Prevention and Control through Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Tumors” was held in Fuzhou on April 17 during National Cancer Prevention and Control Week. The event was hosted by the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital of Naval Medical University/National Center for Liver Cancer Science, co-organized by Fujian Provincial Cancer Hospital and Mengchao Hepatobiliary Hospital of Fujian Medical University, and undertaken by Berry Oncology.

This event brought together leading experts in hepatology, infectious diseases, and gastroenterology from across China to collaborate under the theme “Breaking Through: From Scientific Research to Clinical Practice.” The discussions focused on cutting-edge advances in early diagnosis and treatment of tumors, the latest findings from the PreCar (Precancerous Lesion Screening for Hepatocellular Carcinoma) project on ultra-early warning and screening for liver cancer, clinical practice, and future translational applications. By establishing a platform for exchange on early liver cancer screening, the event aims to advance liver cancer prevention and control in China and contribute to the realization of the ambitious vision of Healthy China.

Thank you for taking the time to join us in discussing early cancer screening and safeguarding the health of our families and nation!
