“By integrating short videos with science popularization and merging the internet with traditional healthcare, we can unlock greater value and bring safety and health into every household,” stated Fang Weihao, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Ping An Healthcare and Technology Company Limited, at the voting launch ceremony for the competition on April 26.
“Jingcheng Award” – 2021 Inaugural Doctor-led Health Science Popularization Competition (Shanghai) was jointly guided by the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission and the Office of the Shanghai Health Promotion Committee, and co-organized by the Shanghai Medical and Health Development Foundation and the Shanghai Health Promotion Center. As a special supporting partner for the competition, Ping An Health APP—which provides compassionate medical and health services to its 373 million registered users—served as the official platform and provided full technical support throughout the event.
The competition consists of three stages: preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds. Entries will be comprehensively evaluated based on scientific rigor, engagement, innovation, and standardization. Winning physicians will receive certificates of honor jointly issued by the Shanghai Medical and Health Development Foundation and the Shanghai Health Promotion Center, along with special funding for science popularization initiatives. Furthermore, the competition platform aims to identify and nurture a new generation of healthcare professionals with significant social influence, offering them access to high-value promotional resources worth millions, including targeted promotion on the Ping An Good Doctor APP and traffic support from major mainstream platforms.
Licensed physicians from over 100 hospitals and medical institutions in Shanghai have enthusiastically registered and actively participated, uploading valuable short-video entries to the competition platform. The submissions currently available cover a comprehensive range of categories and rich content, spanning infectious disease prevention and control, healthy lifestyles, chronic disease prevention and management, population health management, community health services, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) health promotion.
Surprisingly, it is not only young doctors who are filming short videos to participate in the competition; even septuagenarians are keeping pace with the times by creating popular science short videos to share their valuable medical knowledge and experience. These engaging short videos embody the participating doctors’ boundless creativity and substantive expertise, reflecting their passion for their profession and their sense of responsibility toward public health education, while underscoring their mission to contribute to the building of a Healthy China.
