On May 25, Tongxin Medical Union Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Tongxin Medical Union”) and Syno United Medical Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Syno United”) signed an agreement in Beijing, establishing a strategic partnership for future product development and market expansion.
It is reported that the two parties will collaborate on the development of AI-powered products for neurology, conduct clinical research on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and epilepsy, and explore the application of artificial intelligence in disease diagnosis and prognosis assessment. Meanwhile, leveraging their respective industry strengths and customer resources, the two parties will establish a partnership to integrate their offerings and jointly expand the market, thereby achieving complementary advantages and mutual benefits.
In the field of neurological disorders, making scientific and accurate clinical diagnoses has become a challenging issue for many clinicians. Due to the complexity of diagnosing brain diseases and making clinical decisions, current clinical diagnosis still heavily relies on patients' clinical manifestations and physicians' experience, resulting in low diagnostic accuracy. There is also an urgent need to improve the quality of treatment decision-making.
Currently, although many imaging technologies have been widely used in the examination of brain diseases, PET has its own significant advantages for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. By combining PET, MRI, and other clinical indicators to form multimodal AI diagnostic analysis results, it helps reduce treatment delays or mismatches caused by doctors' misdiagnoses and missed diagnoses, thereby reducing unnecessary suffering and economic burden for patients.
Taking Tongxin Medical Alliance as an example, the company has focused on exploring the application of AI in the auxiliary diagnosis of neurological disorders and has achieved breakthrough progress. It is reported that the Tongxin Medical Alliance team adopted an algorithm combining causal inference with deep learning, utilizing a unified algorithmic platform to address various neurological conditions, thereby enhancing the generalizability and interpretability of the algorithms.
To date, Tongxin Yilian has secured multiple invention patents and software copyrights, including AI algorithms for neurological diseases, with extensive intellectual property layouts in areas such as aneurysms, carotid plaques, and brain tumors.
However, AI in medical imaging currently faces two major challenges: technological maturity and commercial monetization. Specifically, it remains uncertain whether algorithms trained at large hospitals can be adapted to a wide range of medical institutions, raising the critical issue of how to address algorithmic generalizability. Furthermore, even after obtaining medical device registration certificates, achieving commercial viability for AI products presents a significant challenge.
To this end, Tongxin Medical Alliance is also actively exploring technological advancements and commercial monetization. The company currently seeks to collaborate with major medical device manufacturers, leveraging their respective advantageous resources for joint technological exploration and commercial promotion. The current partnership with Sino Union represents a beneficial attempt in this direction.
It is reported that Sino United Medical is a leading medical device manufacturer in China. Its independently developed PET/CT has pioneered time-of-flight technology at the 200-picosecond level and has obtained certification from testing agencies, injecting significant momentum into the development of domestically produced high-end medical imaging equipment. In addition, its self-developed range of medical imaging devices continues to empower AI-assisted diagnostic tools, driving continuous progress across the industry.
Regarding this collaboration, Tongxin Medical Alliance expressed its expectation to engage in in-depth cooperation with Syno Union in product development and business expansion. Syno Union stated that the integration of artificial intelligence with healthcare services is an inevitable trend, and it hopes to continuously enhance product competitiveness and market coverage through future collaboration. Both parties will advance this cooperation based on the principle of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
