“Colorectal cancer has a relatively high incidence rate; however, early detection and treatment lead to a favorable prognosis, making colorectal cancer screening of significant importance.”Zhang Jiangli, Founder and CEO of Kunyuan BiotechnologyIt was stated that the project will provide free screening for colorectal cancer and other major diseases to 120,000 registered residents aged 40–74 in Hanjiang District. The first batch of screenings in 2021 is expected to cover 40,000 individuals, and screenings have currently been completed in four areas: Yangzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Weiyang Economic Development Zone, Guazhou, and Ganquan.

Kunyuan Bio’s technologies and products for early cancer screening and diagnosis are world-leading, with R&D centers and independent clinical laboratories established in both San Diego, USA, and Shanghai, China. Last year, Kunyuan Bio officially signed the agreement for its Yangzhou project, with a total investment of RMB 5 billion, aiming to build the largest R&D and production base for early cancer screening and diagnostic reagents in China and even the Asia-Pacific region.

This screening utilized Kunyuan Biotech’s latest patented technology for non-invasive multi-gene methylation detection. By drawing just 10 mL of venous blood, it enables simultaneous detection of multiple DNA methylation regions associated with colorectal cancer. The convenient sampling method has been widely welcomed by the public.

Zhang Jiangli introduced that the traditional method for colorectal cancer screening is colonoscopy, which requires fasting and bowel preparation, resulting in low public participation. In contrast, the “one blood tube, test for colorectal cancer” technology is convenient, fast, non-invasive, painless, and time- and effort-saving.

“This free colorectal cancer screening program has contributed to the ‘Healthy Hanjiang’ initiative,” said a relevant official from the Hanjiang District Government. The official stated that, as part of the Party history learning and education campaign, Hanjiang District will continue to strive for excellence and precision in delivering practical benefits to the public. By aligning with local conditions and focusing on resolving the most pressing, difficult, worrying, and anticipated issues faced by residents, the district aims to enhance their sense of well-being.
