1Editor's Note

VBInsight compiled financing and investment data in the digital health sector for China and the United States from 2011 to Q1 2021, comparing the investment trends in both countries over the past decade across four dimensions: total investment amount, number of deals by sub-sector, distribution by funding round, and number of Series C rounds.

1. Total financing in China and the United States continued to rise. In 2018, China’s total funding amount briefly surpassed that of the United States, driven by mega-financing rounds exceeding $100 million for companies such as WeDoctor and JD Health.

2. Spurred by the pandemic, China’s “Internet + Healthcare” sector has seen a significant rise; while digital therapeutics have experienced sustained growth in the United States for many years, China is still catching up;

3. A large number of companies in both China and the United States entered the mature Series C stage between 2018 and 2020.
