Multidisciplinary Integration: Maximizing the Benefits of Oral Health
This conference provided an excellent platform for the academic integration and exchange in digital dentistry. During the academic salon moderated by Wei Bing and attended by Professor Zhou Guohui, Professor Tan Jianguo, Professor Shen Gang, Professor Liu Xiaofeng, and others, the experts engaged in discussions on the topic of “How to Promote Oral Health Through Multidisciplinary Collaboration.”
Dental implantology is a vital field within oral medicine. With the research and application of theoretical advances in implant dentistry, coupled with the development of digital technologies, dental implants now restore the natural aesthetics and function of teeth to the greatest extent possible, making them the optimal choice for patients with tooth loss.
However, oral implantology is not an isolated or self-contained discipline; it encompasses knowledge from multiple fields, including implant surgery, prosthodontics, periodontology, and orthodontics. How to meet the high demands for oral healthcare services and maximize patients’ oral health benefits has become a focal point of common concern among dental professionals.
Professor Tan Jianguo stated, “Stomatology initially existed as a single discipline, which later became increasingly specialized. However, with rapid societal development, patient demands have evolved from focusing solely on oral health to encompassing oral aesthetics. Therefore, it is essential to integrate various disciplines, centering on patients’ chief complaints, and leverage multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve aesthetic outcomes.”
When discussing the future development trends of multidisciplinary integration in digital dentistry, Professor Shen Gang stated, “Future dentists need not be experts in every specialty, but they should possess a broad understanding across disciplines. Only by providing timely and appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can they retain patients and earn their trust.”
All experts agreed that, whether in implantology, orthodontics, or aesthetic restoration, normal occlusal relationships and healthy periodontal status are of paramount importance to oral health, oral function, and facial aesthetics, serving as the foundation for maximizing oral health benefits.

At the media briefing, through discussions with several experts, we gained deeper insight into Taikang ByBo’s integrated development strategy encompassing medical care, education, and research.
Regarding digital clinical technologies in dentistry, Liu Qi, Deputy Director of Taikang ByBo Dental’s Beijing Main Hospital and a young expert scholar, discussed his latest clinical research findings.“The first is an article on failed implants, in which we retained the failing implants through digital technologies and a series of therapeutic interventions; this paper has been published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry (JPD), a leading journal in prosthodontics. The second involves systematizing the clinical workflow for cases treated with digital surgical guides into a patent application.”
“These articles are compiled based on our existing clinical experience at ByBo Oral Medical Group. I believe that physicians’ professional growth requires systematic summarization; clinicians should document their clinical experiences in written form to disseminate knowledge to a broader medical audience. In this regard, ByBo Oral Medical Group provides substantial support to physicians, including funding, expert resources, and internal institutional resources.”
Regarding the education and training of clinical talent, Wei Bing, a group-level expert at ByBo Oral Medical Group and Chairman of its Professional Academic Committee, stated:“Since its establishment, Taikang ByBo Oral Care has consistently prioritized academic development and professional growth, adhering to the core principles of medical practice. These committees aim to elevate the group’s overall academic standards and medical quality, continuously attract and cultivate high-caliber medical professionals, deliver high-quality medical services, and achieve advanced technological outcomes.
Professor Shen Gang, a group-level expert at ByBo Oral Medical Group, Chairman of the Academic Committee on Orthodontics, and academic leader in the field, stated“Taikang ByBo Oral is a large-scale clinical dental chain entity, with orthodontics being a major discipline and a specialty of Taikang ByBo Oral. The Academic Committee mainly serves a guiding and coordinating role.”
We have successfully obtained national-level accreditation for continuing education in orthodontics, with three additional projects currently under submission. This integrated approach delivers significant benefits to patients and greater convenience for clinicians, representing a core strength of Taikang ByBo Oral Care.
"This product line addresses the majority of malocclusion treatment needs among the Chinese population, expands the indications for clear aligner therapy, and is currently in use nationwide. It is evident that ByBo Oral Medical Group not only focuses on clinical practice and business performance but also actively promotes the integration of industry, academia, and research through both clinical and basic research, akin to academic institutions."
