June 2–3: The 4th International Academic Forum of Taikang ByBo Oral Medical Group Held in BeijingThemed “New Vitality, Shared Future,” this international academic forum focused on the growing trend of multidisciplinary collaborative treatment in the era of digital dentistry. It brought together numerous top-tier domestic and international experts for academic exchange and discussion, with nearly 500 dental specialists and practitioners in attendance.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Yu Guangyan, President of the Chinese Stomatological Association, and Mr. Liu Tingjun, President and Chief Operating Officer of Taikang Insurance Group and Chairman of Taikang ByBo Medical Group, delivered inspiring addresses respectively. Mr. Zhu Zhenghong, CEO of Taikang ByBo Dental, announced and presented the “2020 Best Support Partner Award” of Taikang ByBo Oral Medical Group.

This academic forum brought together numerous luminaries from the dental industry, with a total of 18 domestic and international experts attending to deliver thematic presentations and engage in in-depth exchanges with the participating dentists.

Among them are many renowned experts in the domestic industry, including Associate Clinical Professor (Honorary) Zhou Guohui from the Faculty of Dentistry at The University of Hong Kong; Professor Su Yucheng, Chair of the Implantology Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association; Professor Wang Zuolin, Former Chair of the Implantology Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association; Professor Tan Jianguo, Professor and Chief Physician at Peking University School of Stomatology; Dr. Liu Xiaojing, Medical Doctor from Peking Union Medical College; and Professor Shu Rong from Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Former Chair of the Periodontology Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association.

This conference provided an excellent platform for the academic integration and exchange in digital dentistry. During the academic salon moderated by Wei Bing and attended by Professor Zhou Guohui, Professor Tan Jianguo, Professor Shen Gang, Professor Liu Xiaofeng, and others, the experts engaged in discussions on the topic of “How to Promote Oral Health Through Multidisciplinary Collaboration.”

Dental implantology is a vital field within oral medicine. With the research and application of theoretical advances in implant dentistry, coupled with the development of digital technologies, dental implants now restore the natural aesthetics and function of teeth to the greatest extent possible, making them the optimal choice for patients with tooth loss.

However, oral implantology is not an isolated or self-contained discipline; it encompasses knowledge from multiple fields, including implant surgery, prosthodontics, periodontology, and orthodontics. How to meet the high demands for oral healthcare services and maximize patients’ oral health benefits has become a focal point of common concern among dental professionals.

Professor Tan Jianguo stated, “Stomatology initially existed as a single discipline, which later became increasingly specialized. However, with rapid societal development, patient demands have evolved from focusing solely on oral health to encompassing oral aesthetics. Therefore, it is essential to integrate various disciplines, centering on patients’ chief complaints, and leverage multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve aesthetic outcomes.”

When discussing the future development trends of multidisciplinary integration in digital dentistry, Professor Shen Gang stated, “Future dentists need not be experts in every specialty, but they should possess a broad understanding across disciplines. Only by providing timely and appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can they retain patients and earn their trust.”

All experts agreed that, whether in implantology, orthodontics, or aesthetic restoration, normal occlusal relationships and healthy periodontal status are of paramount importance to oral health, oral function, and facial aesthetics, serving as the foundation for maximizing oral health benefits.
