Changzhou Surui Medical Technology Co., Ltd. was established in February 2016. It is a company primarily focused on the research and development of forward-looking minimally invasive surgical technologies, founded mainly by Dr. Xu Mantao, former Chief Scientific Officer for China at Covidien. The market launch of the domestically produced 3D electronic laparoscope signals that China’s R&D in high-end minimally invasive medical devices has aligned with international standards. Dr. Xu Mantao believes that compared with traditional 2D laparoscopes, the advantages of 3D laparoscopes include faster positioning and grasping of surgical instruments, as well as images with greater depth perception, truly embodying the principle of “what you see is what you get.” Dr. Xu Mantao stated that 3D laparoscopes restore the advantages of natural vision to a certain extent, potentially improving the average speed of image acquisition and comprehension by 20–30% compared with traditional 2D laparoscopes, thereby enabling better hand-eye coordination and lower latency. Meanwhile, Dr. Xu Mantao predicts that over the next 5–10 years, robot-assisted laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery and 3D laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery will gradually replace traditional 2D laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery.
