With the accelerating pace of modern life and the widespread adoption of computers, smartphones, and the internet, cervical spondylosis and lumbar disc herniation caused by prolonged head-down smartphone use and a sedentary lifestyle are increasingly affecting younger populations.According to relevant statistical data, the number of patients with lumbar spondylosis in China has currently exceeded 200 million. The proportion of adolescents with cervical spondylosis has risen from 8.7% in 1996 to the current 12%, and it is expected to continue increasing in the future.
Although the overall “situation is severe,” domestic “attention” remains insufficient. On one hand, the Chinese public lacks a clear understanding of spinal health, often not considering it a disease and maintaining an attitude of “neglect” unless pain reaches a certain threshold.
On the other hand, there is a shortage of relevant talent and specialized institutions. First, China has not yet established a comprehensive training system for chiropractors; the current density of chiropractors is extremely low, completely failing to meet societal demand. Furthermore, institutions specializing in spinal care are relatively scarce. Most existing offline medical service providers in the market focus primarily on rehabilitation, with spinal treatment accounting for only a negligible proportion of their business lines.
Therefore, vigorously promoting the rapid development of spinal health has become an urgent priority. According to the “alarming figures” presented in authoritative survey reports:Over 80% of adolescents in China have cervical spines in a suboptimal health state; the prevalence of scoliosis among children exceeds 25%; and 80% of spinal curvature cases in the elderly originate from childhood.Spinal health has become a new “killer” of children’s growth, and the burden of spinal health in China is becoming increasingly heavy. On this challenging yet mission-driven path,Huakai Spinal DiagnosisAlready gaining momentum.
I. Founding Vision: Family Heritage + Societal Needs
Huakai Spinal Diagnosis is provided by graduates of Palmer College of Chiropractic in the United States.Dr. Xie YiA professional spinal health medical institution founded in 2019 upon returning to China, with its headquarters located in the beautiful and livable city of Chengdu, currently operating two clinics.
Like the vast majority of innovative enterprises, Huakai Spinal Diagnosis was born out of its founder’s passion for and deep commitment to this field.
Dr. Xie Yi hails from a family of physicians, with his lineage belonging to the Menghe Medical School, one of China’s renowned medical traditions, which enjoys high public recognition and influence in the Jiangsu region. The Xie family motto is“If one cannot become a wise statesman, then one should become a skilled physician.”, the general idea is that if one succeeds in the imperial examinations, one should serve diligently as an official; if not, one should return to one’s original profession and practice as a physician.

Influenced by his family from an early age, Dr. Xie Yi chose the latter path. As a teenager, he traveled alone to the United States for his studies, graduating successfully from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He subsequently obtained medical licenses to practice in both Illinois and Michigan, and became a member of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and the Michigan Association of Chiropractors (MAC).
After ten years of academic study and clinical practice, Dr. Xie Yi has amassed extensive clinical experience in the treatment of spine-related disorders and post-traumatic rehabilitation following motor vehicle accidents.Proficient in applying specialized chiropractic techniques, including Gonstead, Diversified, Thompson, Webster, Cox, and Logan Basic, to alleviate acute pain in the neck, lower back, and back for patients.
In 2019, Dr. Xie Yi chose to return to China to start a business. This was not a rash decision, but one based on the substantial domestic demand for spinal health. Dr. Xie stated, “The United States has over a century of history in the field of chiropractic medicine. Whether in terms of technology or supporting services, it has established a highly mature operational system. In contrast to the ‘buzz’ surrounding this field in the U.S., chiropractic medicine remains relatively ‘niche’ in China. On one hand, there is limited public awareness; on the other, there is a shortage of corresponding medical resources. However, we must face the reality that the population suffering from spine-related disorders in China is growing increasingly large, with a pronounced trend toward younger patients. Spinal diseases are becoming the ‘number one enemy’ threatening the health of the Chinese people.”
II. Quality-Centric Approach: Building a Closed-Loop Service System Around Patient Needs
Huakai Spinal Diagnosis aims to utilize advanced American medical rehabilitation equipment and professional treatment methods to conduct systematic examinations, treatments, and rehabilitation for patients with spinal and extremity joint issues. The services mainly include:Comprehensive Spinal Examination, Spinal Adjustment, Rehabilitation Training, Soft Tissue TherapyFour Core Segments.
First is a comprehensive spinal examination.Through comprehensive examinations encompassing physical, orthopedic, and imaging assessments, we provide precise diagnoses for spine-related conditions such as scoliosis, vertebral subluxation, and herniated discs. To enhance the accuracy and professionalism of our diagnostics, Huakai Spinal Diagnosis has, to date, established collaborations with multiple local Grade A tertiary hospitals and specialized testing institutions. This partnership ensures high-quality testing while offering patients a “green channel” service, enabling a highly efficient closed-loop process where appointments, tests, and report retrieval can all be completed on the same day.
Although the examination marks the beginning of the service, it is also the most critical step. Dr. Xie Yi stated, “Huakai Spinal Diagnosis has always emphasized the importance of rigorous consultation and examination procedures. Only by thoroughly understanding the patient’s condition can we devise the most appropriate treatment plan; otherwise, optimal therapeutic outcomes cannot be achieved. Every treatment plan we provide is based on the patient’s actual clinical condition, with a clear treatment direction and a well-defined prognosis, all of which rely on systematic preliminary test results.”
To ensure continuous documentation of patients’ conditions and reduce their consultation costs, Huakai Spinal Diagnosis has adopted the Kangbojia electronic medical record (EMR) system. This system enables detailed recording of patients’ real-time clinical status and is fully integrated with the patient consultation and appointment platform as well as the official WeChat account. With patient authorization, cloud-based patient data can be shared across different clinic locations.
Next is spinal manipulation.Achieve corrective realignment of the cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, pelvis, and extremity joints through professional manual manipulation techniques combined with specialized equipment.
Next is rehabilitation training.Under the meticulous guidance of professional rehabilitation therapists, patients undergo rehabilitative exercises to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes. It is reported that Huakai Spinal Diagnosis currently employs more than 20 rehabilitation therapists, all of whom possess extensive professional experience in the field of spinal treatment.
Finally, soft tissue therapy.Physical therapists employ specialized manual techniques and medical equipment to deliver targeted treatment to soft tissues such as muscles, thereby enhancing blood circulation, accelerating tissue repair, and further improving therapeutic outcomes.
In addition, Huakai Spinal Diagnosis has established a dedicated “Health Classroom” featuring educational content. Through articles and videos, it enables patients to gain greater insight into spine-related health knowledge, empowering them to better protect themselves and maintain optimal health.
Overall, Huakai Spinal Diagnosis has established a full-cycle service system encompassing consultation, treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up by leveraging a professional medical team and a systematic information platform aligned with patient needs. While effectively addressing patients' spinal health issues, it employs innovative technologies to ensure service quality and enhance overall operational efficiency.

Additionally,On one hand, we collaborate with higher education institutions to strengthen the cultivation of relevant talent. For innovative industries, the shortage of talent is a key factor constraining their development; therefore, addressing the issue of talent cultivation is an essential step in promoting industrial growth.
In the future, Huakai Spinal Diagnosis will collaborate with relevant higher education institutions to jointly develop specialized programs in the field of spinal therapy. By implementing a training system that combines on-campus targeted coursework with off-campus practical operations, the company aims to significantly reduce talent training costs and provide sustained momentum for industry development. Additionally, Huakai Spinal Diagnosis will partner with Palmer College of Chiropractic in the United States to align with cutting-edge international technologies and core concepts, thereby strengthening talent training efforts and enhancing the depth of professional knowledge reserves.
Dr. Xie Yi stated, “Currently, China is still in the nascent stage of spinal care, but this also presents an opportunity for us. By integrating more cutting-edge technologies and infusing fresh perspectives into our service system, we can accelerate our development. Our goal is not merely to emulate the United States, but to surpass some of its traditional concepts, break free from entangled paradigms, and establish our own standardized system. This has been, and continues to be, the core mission of Huakai Spinal Diagnosis—past, present, and future.”
