Recently, Shanghai Shende Medical Technology Co., Ltd. completed its Series B and Series B+ financing rounds within five months, securing a cumulative total of over RMB 100 million. The two rounds were jointly invested by funds including Creation Investment, Dianshi Chuangjian, Infore Dingtai, Zhilang Venture Capital, Solidwood Investment, and Rending Investment. This achievement fully demonstrates institutional investors’ strong affirmation of Shende Medical’s pioneering innovation capabilities in the non-invasive treatment of tumors and neurological disorders using “Magnetic Wave Knife” technology, as well as their confidence in the company’s growth. The proceeds from this round will primarily be used for clinical trials and marketing promotion of non-invasive treatment product series for uterine fibroids/adenomyosis, breast tumors, and bone tumor pain relief, as well as for the development and strategic deployment of non-invasive treatment product series for Parkinson’s disease/essential tremor/glioma, prostate cancer, and thyroid tumors.


Previously, Shende Medical had completed angel and Series A financing rounds totaling tens of millions of yuan.


“Magnetic Wave Knife” Features Comprehensive Upgrades Over Traditional Focused Ultrasound Technology, Becoming a Treatment for Tumors and Neurological Disorders of the Brain

Brand-New Non-Invasive Treatment Method


High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a novel, non-invasive physical therapy technique that achieves rapid tissue ablation through the thermal effects generated by focusing ultrasound waves within tissues, thereby fulfilling therapeutic objectives. As a well-established technology with a century-long history, focused ultrasound has been widely applied globally to more than 40 indications, including gynecological tumors, urological tumors, abdominal tumors, cervical tumors, and neurological disorders of the brain. By the end of 2020, nearly 400,000 procedures had been performed worldwide in this therapeutic field.


Shende Medical’s “Magnetic Wave Knife” adopts “superconducting MRI guidance” combined with “phased-array focused ultrasound” technology, breaking through the traditional single-element scanning mode guided by ultrasound in conventional focused ultrasound systems, thereby achieving a generational upgrade of the existing technology.


Step 1: Using superconducting magnetic resonance imaging as “3D glasses,” the physician performs multi-dimensional dynamic imaging of the tumor, formulates a treatment plan based on precise localization and calibration as well as accurate diagnosis, and precisely delineates the tumor target volume.


Step 2: The physician operates the phased-array focused ultrasound, an “invisible scalpel,” via the Magnetic Wave Knife’s standalone software system equipped with intelligent AI algorithms. This system leverages phased multi-mode focused ultrasound technology to achieve treatment over a large focal domain, enabling precise and rapid movement of the focal point during the procedure to create multi-focal, multi-mode focusing.


Step 3: By analyzing the visualized temperature closed-loop feedback maps and curves derived from thermometry data provided by superconducting magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound energy at the focal point is precisely controlled and delivered to the tumor target area. This enables precise tumor ablation, inducing high-temperature coagulative necrosis (i.e., thermal ablation). Following thermal ablation, the necrotic tissue is gradually metabolized and absorbed by the body, thereby achieving the therapeutic objective.


During the procedure, rib injury can be avoided and abdominal tumor treatment achieved by deactivating selected transducer elements to bypass the ribs; defocusing issues caused by ultrasound penetration through the skull can be resolved using phase compensation and calibration techniques, enabling the treatment of neurological disorders; and real-time image fusion technology allows for comprehensive assessment of therapeutic efficacy throughout the procedure.


By integrating the comprehensive advantages of being non-invasive, eco-friendly, precise, equipped with intelligent AI-powered visual diagnosis and treatment, enabling non-destructive temperature measurement, ensuring safety and high efficiency, providing real-time therapeutic efficacy assessment, and featuring low manufacturing costs and affordable treatment fees, this technology is poised to become the most widely accessible novel non-invasive therapeutic modality for patients with various benign and malignant solid tumors, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and neurological disorders.

Academician Chen Yazhu, Chief Advisor to Shende Medical, is a shareholder and director of the company, Honorary Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a pioneer in China’s interdisciplinary field of medicine and engineering, and a leading figure in the research and development of non-invasive medical technologies and large-scale medical devices.
