To thoroughly implement the “Healthy China 2030” strategy and actively respond to the national deployment of the major project “Science and Technology Innovation 2030—Brain Science and Brain-Inspired Research,” Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, and the Tianjin Neuroscience Society recently hosted an event co-organized by the Asian-Oceanian Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AOSPRM) and the Tianjin Zhao Yicheng Medical Science Foundation.Tianjin Medical University International Cooperation and Medical Science & Education Innovation Forum — 2026 Academic Conference on Neuromodulation in Critical Care Rehabilitation and EducationHeld in Tianjin.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Wan Chunxiao, Conference Chair, Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medical Technology, Tianjin Medical University, and Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital.In his opening remarks, Yu Chunshui, Vice President of Tianjin Medical University, stated that rehabilitation medicine occupies a pivotal position within the comprehensive, end-to-end healthcare service system. This conference will facilitate industry peers in benchmarking against international frontiers, exchanging and sharing experiences, and promoting the improvement of quality and efficiency in discipline development. Opening remarks were also delivered by Yu Shizhu, Chairman of the Tianjin Neuroscience Society; Yu Wenchao, Deputy Director of the Medical Administration Division of the Tianjin Municipal Health Commission; and Xu Zhen, Director of the Higher Education Division of the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission.

Gathering of Experts: Jointly Exploring the New Future of Rehabilitation

The Conference Centers on“Neuromodulation, Sustaining Critical Care—A New Journey in the Integration of Medicine, Education, and Research with International Exchange”Topic: Conference reports were delivered by Li Jian’an, International Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine and Honorary Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine at Nanjing Medical University; Li Jianjun, Director of the China Rehabilitation Research Center; Bi Sheng, Former Director of the Rehabilitation Medicine Center at the Chinese PLA General Hospital; John Rothwell from University College London, UK; Hans van Dijk from the Rotterdam Rehabilitation Center, Netherlands; Nils B. Kromer from the University of Bonn, Germany; Jiang Hong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shandong First Medical University (Rehabilitation University); and Xu Guizhi, Dean of the Institute of Biomedical and Health Engineering at Hebei University of Technology.

The conference featured six sub-forums: the International Neuromodulation Sub-Forum, the Brain-Computer Interface Sub-Forum, the International Development of Rehabilitation Education Sub-Forum and Respiratory Rehabilitation Technology Training Course, the International Rehabilitation Diagnosis and Treatment Sub-Forum, the Youth Innovation Forum, and the Specialized Rehabilitation Alliance Medical Consortium Capacity-Building Sub-Forum.Through keynote reports and discussions on cutting-edge technologies, participating experts shared the latest research advancements, clinical practices, frontier therapies, innovative applications, discipline development, and industry experience within the field.

At the International Sub-forum on Neuromodulation and Brain-Computer Interfaces, He Yongzheng, Chairman of Sunnyou and Executive Dean of the Henan Institute of Smart Health and Elderly Care Equipment Industry, delivered a keynote report titled “Brain-Computer Interfaces Empowering the Integration of Medical Treatment and Rehabilitation.” He systematically elaborated to domestic and international experts on the innovative value, practical achievements, and industry-academia-research collaborative pathways of non-invasive brain-computer interface technologies in critical care rehabilitation and neurological rehabilitation scenarios, earning widespread recognition from the attending experts.
