CDTSP(pre), DTA, and JDTx Unite for the First Global Dialogue at the 2021 International Digital Therapeutics Summit

As of now, there have been 86 global digital therapeutics financing events in 2021, with total funding exceeding $3 billion, reaching three-quarters of the full-year total for 2020. Abroad, countries led by the United States, Canada, and Germany accounted for 76 financing events, while China recorded 10.

Driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) relaxed emergency authorization requirements for certain digital therapeutics. Shortly after the policy was introduced, multiple digital therapeutics received emergency authorization and became available to the public. Countries such as Germany and Japan also witnessed new development opportunities for digital therapeutics during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, digital therapeutics in China have also achieved a breakthrough. In April 2021, the first formal organization for digital therapeutics in China—Digital Therapeutics and Systems Engineering Professional Committee (Preparatory) of the China Association for Promotion of Rehabilitation Technology Translation and Development (hereinafter referred to as the “Professional Committee (Preparatory)”) (CDTSP (pre))Upon its establishment, the Preparatory Committee for the Specialized Committee centered on “promoting industry consensus, advancing Chinese practices, collaboratively creating value, and establishing dialogue mechanisms.” With a global perspective and grounded in China’s national context, it comprehensively understands and deeply grasps international concerns, academic frontiers, and industrial trends, committing to promoting the standardized, high-quality, and sustainable development of digital therapeutics in China.

Against this backdrop, the Digital Therapeutics Systems Engineering Professional Committee (Preparatory) of the China Association for Promotion of Rehabilitation Technology Translation and Development hosted the 2021 International Summit on Digital Therapeutics. Centered on the industrial development needs of digital therapeutics, the summit focused on the current status and trends of digital therapeutics both domestically and internationally from global and localized perspectives. Through keynote speeches, live connections with overseas participants, and project roadshows, it created a genuine platform for exchange, discussion, and collaboration to advance the development of digital therapeutics.
