At the 2020 CACLP exhibition, the MCL60, a compact chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer suitable for use in both clinical laboratory and bedside settings, made its debut and stood out among numerous exhibited products. We have recently learned that Nanjing Renmai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., the developer of this groundbreaking product, has completed a new round of financing. This round was led by Haibang Investment, with existing shareholder Huada Win Win increasing its investment, and Tanbing New Medical Fund participating as a co-investor. Tanbing Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor. The funds raised will be used to expand the production capacity of the MCL60 device and to support the research and development of the company’s new specialized testing platforms and proprietary reagent projects.
We note that, despite being founded only in 2016, this young company has completed the layout of multiple innovative POCT platforms within just five years. So, what are the unique strengths of Renmai Bio’s team and products?
Dr. Jin Jing, the founder of Renmai Biotechnology, boasts an outstanding professional background. He holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Southeast University and earned his Ph.D. through a joint program between UCLA and Southeast University. His interdisciplinary expertise in biomedical hardware and software, cultivated throughout his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies, laid a solid foundation for his entrepreneurial journey. After completing his Ph.D., driven by an innate spirit of challenge and innovation, he decisively declined a faculty position at a prestigious Project 985 university and instead joined a well-known publicly listed POCT company. During his tenure there, he single-handedly established the chemiluminescence R&D team and advanced step by step from R&D engineer to Department Manager and then to R&D Director. In 2016, Dr. Jin founded Renmai Biotechnology, which has since completed the development and regulatory registration of three chemiluminescence instruments and nearly fifty reagent assays.
As Renmai Biotech’s flagship product, the MCL60 combines the rapid convenience of point-of-care testing (POCT) with the precision and efficiency of laboratory-based analysis. It features a compact footprint, high throughput, full automation, and rapid processing, while delivering accurate results and supporting direct on-board testing of whole blood and capillary blood samples.

As an innovative enterprise in the field of quantitative immunoassay, Renmai Biology has a distinctive portfolio of reagent projects, best summarized by its “3-2-1” strategy: the “Capillary Blood Pediatric Growth and Development 3+1” panel, the “Peripheral Blood Inflammation IP Combination,” and “Whole-Blood High-Sensitivity Troponin T.”

The MCL60’s high precision and superior quality have earned professional recognition from top-tier hospitals in China, including Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital.

We have learned that since its market launch in late 2020, Renmai Bio’s MCL60 instrument has been predominantly installed in tertiary hospitals and above. Currently, demand for the MCL60 far exceeds supply. The primary purpose of Renmai Bio’s current financing round is to further expand production capacity to meet the surging customer demand for the MCL60 product.
In addition to its compact chemiluminescence platform, Renmai Biotech is also actively developing next-generation, more competitive point-of-care testing (POCT) products and specialized reagent projects. We have every reason and confidence to expect that Renmai Biotech’s products will shine brightly in the clinical markets where it has been diligently cultivating, and that the company will undoubtedly emerge as a rising star in the in vitro diagnostics industry.
