Recently, Weimai, in collaboration with several renowned children's hospitals in China, has developed a digital therapeutics case study“Application Practice of AI-Based Digital Therapeutics for Family Intervention in Autism”, was successfully selected for VCBeat’s “2021 VB100 Excellent Digital Health Collaboration Cases,” once again demonstrating Weimai’s outstanding innovative capabilities and promising growth prospects in the field of digital therapeutics to the internet healthcare industry.

"2021 VB100 Outstanding Digital Healthcare Collaboration Cases" spanned nearly two months from call for submissions to final selection. The evaluation criteria covered three dimensions: product/service introduction, case innovation, and case outcomes. The initiative aimed to identify a cohort of outstanding cases demonstrating technological advancement and prominent exemplary impact, thereby providing an in-depth analysis of the current state of digital innovation in China’s healthcare industry and exploring future models of innovation.
Weimai’s selected case study, “Practical Application of AI-Based Digital Therapeutics for Family Intervention in Autism,” has attracted significant industry attention since the project’s inception.
By leveraging AI technology, this digital therapeutic can develop a corresponding structured intervention plan based on professional assessments of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) conducted by physicians. It then progressively delivers personalized training content to parents according to the plan, including demonstration courses for modules such as imitation training, motor skills training, social skills training, language training, cognitive training, activities of daily living (ADL) training, and sensory integration training, while step-by-step instructing parents in techniques and strategies for home-based intervention.
Compared with traditional offline intervention models,Weimai’s Pioneering Digital Therapeutics for Childhood Autism Open Up a New Model for Intervention and Treatment in Public Hospitals, breaking through the constraints of time and space, enabling children to receive continuous intervention training while awake, thereby integrating intervention into daily life and vice versa, which has significantly improved the patients' conditions.
Meanwhile,Digital therapeutics for family-based interventions in autism have also significantly reduced the workload of therapists under the traditional model. It is no longer necessary to provide full-process involvement in the child’s intervention therapy; instead, the role is limited to supervising the implementation of the intervention. The system formulates intervention plans and pushes corresponding courses based on assessment results, while parents—who have more time to accompany their children—become the primary implementers of the intervention, thereby reducing their dependence on therapists.
Currently, Weimai’s “Digital Therapeutics for Childhood Autism” program has established in-depth collaborations with multiple public hospitals in China and is progressively conducting clinical validations. Weimai looks forward to welcoming more hospitals to join the clinical validation system for digital therapeutics in family-based autism interventions. Together, we aim to provide scientifically proven and effective digital therapeutic solutions to over 2 million autism-affected families in China, alleviate their treatment burden, and jointly contribute to the Healthy China 2030 initiative.
As one of the first Chinese enterprises to receive certification from the Digital Therapeutics Alliance (DTA), Weimai will continue to uphold its mission of “making healthcare services more accessible,” leverage cutting-edge technologies such as AI, electronic health records, 5G, and robotics, and continuously explore innovative pathways for digital therapeutics. By fully addressing the multi-level and diverse health needs of the public, Weimai aims to develop a broader range of digital therapeutic solutions tailored to various patient groups, thereby providing comprehensive, full-cycle healthcare services to the entire population.
Furthermore, Weimai has opened its shared platform to domestic and international enterprises engaged in digital therapeutics research, providing its platform capabilities and connectivity solutions in the field of digital therapeutics. The company aims to collaborate with more medical and research institutions, as well as technology- and service-oriented enterprises, to jointly promote the development and refinement of the digital therapeutics ecosystem for specialized disease areas in China.
