Public Notice of the National Natural Science Foundation of China

The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), established with the approval of the State Council, serves as a crucial pillar in the reform of China’s national science and technology system. The NSFC’s funding allocation centers on implementing strategies for source innovation, scientific and technological talent development, and innovation ecosystem enhancement. It aims to foster innovative ideas and strengthen original innovation capabilities. By targeting major scientific frontiers and key national strategic needs, it addresses future challenges and prioritizes fields that are foundational, strategic, and forward-looking. Applications for NSFC grants impose stringent requirements on applicant qualifications, technical expertise, the principal investigator’s professional title and academic credentials, as well as the project’s innovativeness and social value. Approval is granted only after multiple rounds of defense-based reviews and endorsement by an expert committee.

Maintaining technical exchanges with frontline hospital staff is the source of vitality for Huiyi Huiying’s technological innovation. The driving force behind Huiyi Huiying’s continued investment in AI for medical imaging lies in its commitment to advancing healthcare through technological innovation and striving to position China’s medical standards at the forefront globally. Leveraging its independently developed artificial intelligence technologies and precise diagnostic and therapeutic practices across multiple diseases, Huiyi Huiying has undertaken more than 30 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China, and the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, with research funding exceeding RMB 100 million. The company has conducted innovative research on various conditions, including liver cancer, breast cancer, rectal cancer, and thyroid diseases.

As a leading domestic AI healthcare enterprise, Huiyi Huiying possesses core algorithms and continuously refined actuarial capabilities. Its core team of scientists comprises dozens of members, 100% of whom hold master’s degrees and 50% of whom hold doctoral degrees. The Huiyi Huiying scientific team has conducted extensive research across multiple disease areas, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence, publishing over 100 academic papers in total.

The approval of three National Natural Science Foundation grants not only underscores Huiyi Huiying’s technological innovation and research capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence, but also highlights the company’s strength in overcoming complex challenges. Huiyi Huiying will collaborate with hospital departments, research institutions, and academic universities to explore innovations in medical technology, address clinical pain points, and conquer technical hurdles!

Huiyi Huiying’s founder, Dr. Chai Xiangfei, holds a Ph.D. in Medical Physics and has worked and studied at prestigious medical imaging institutions, including the Stanford Cancer Center in the United States, the Netherlands Cancer Institute, and the Department of Radiology at KU Leuven in Belgium. The founder’s distinguished background has established Huiyi Huiying’s “professional” ethos. Leveraging the prominence of artificial intelligence, the company delves into the fundamentals of healthcare by focusing on clinical workflows and medical data. It has developed multiple product lines, such as digital intelligent film, big-data research platforms, PACS integrated with data middle platforms, and cloud-based imaging systems, thereby creating a comprehensive, full-cycle AI-powered medical imaging solution centered on smart imaging.

Huiyi Huiying Full-Stack Product Solution

An examination of its product logic reveals that Huiyi Huiying starts from underlying data, targeting issues such as the abundance, high value, and low utilization rate of hospital data. By building a PACS + Data Middle Platform from the ground up, it empowers hospitals with AI-driven data processing capabilities. Through the Data Middle Platform, hospitals can clearly monitor data usage, cleaning, and annotation status. For clinical departments, Huiyi Huiying has developed a big-data research platform equipped with various model algorithms, including deep learning and machine learning. Clinicians can use this platform to conduct image and text analysis for their research interests, generating accurate statistical data and models for academic papers. For patients, Huiyi Huiying provides digital intelligent films that can be accessed at any time. For physicians, the solution enables access to original DICOM-format digital films via smartphones or tablets, unrestricted by location or distance. Meanwhile, Huiyi Huiying’s AI-assisted screening system helps physicians automatically locate lesions, improving diagnostic efficiency by more than 15% compared to purely manual diagnosis. For primary care hospitals, Huiyi Huiying offers Imaging Cloud products that connect hospitals at all levels, serving medical alliances, medical consortia, healthcare groups, and other medical institutions. This facilitates the interconnectivity of medical imaging data and truly supports the decentralization of high-quality medical resources.

With the issuance of the “Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Development of Public Hospitals,” traditional operational models in medical institutions can no longer meet patients’ healthcare needs. The impact of digitalization and intelligence has permeated the healthcare system. Faced with an ever-growing array of smart devices and emerging challenges within the healthcare system, hospitals’ IT infrastructure built in the last century is no longer capable of meeting modern demands. As a domestic medical artificial intelligence enterprise, Huiyi Huiying covers the entire data workflow: from underlying data storage and collection, through mid-layer data analysis and processing, to top-level system applications. In terms of usage scenarios, Huiyi Huiying’s full product line supports physician-facing, department-facing, and patient-facing interfaces, offering hospital-wide and regional-level solutions.
