Lianren Health and Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement to Advance Medical Informatization

Recently, LIANREN Digital Health (hereinafter referred to as “LIANREN Digital Health”) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center. The two parties will combine clinical medical scenarios and carry out strategic cooperation in four areas: the construction of a big data research platform for specialized diseases, the incubation of innovative big data products, the formulation of big data-related standards, and ecological cooperation in medical big data, contributing to promoting and leading the industrial upgrade and transformation of China’s healthcare informatization.

This signing represents a powerful alliance between two industry leaders, marking the official launch of the strategic cooperation between LIANREN Digital Health and Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center to jointly build a specialized research data platform for specific diseases. Wu Jiong, Vice President of Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, stated that the strategic collaboration with LIANREN Digital Health to develop a specialized research data platform for specific diseases will effectively leverage big data and precision medicine to support clinical services and translational research. Meanwhile, the establishment of this specialized research data platform will serve as a key pillar for the hospital’s new phase of high-quality development. It is hoped that joint efforts will foster more original, high-quality research outcomes, continuously improve the therapeutic efficacy for malignant tumors, and empower the advancement of clinical oncology.

Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center is the earliest established Grade A tertiary specialized cancer hospital in China, integrating medical care, education, research, and prevention. Data from 2020 shows that Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center had 1.4481 million outpatient visits, 101,400 hospital admissions, 57,800 surgeries, and an average length of stay of 6.02 days for discharged patients.

The hospital ranked 26th in the latest “Best Hospitals Comprehensive Ranking in China,” topping the list of specialized hospitals nationwide. Its Department of Pathology has maintained the number one position in China for ten consecutive years, while its oncology specialty ranks second nationwide. In the National Performance Assessment for Tertiary Public Hospitals, the hospital received an A grade, placing second among specialized oncology hospitals. According to the 2020 performance data from the Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center, the hospital maintained a leading position citywide, with 15 disease categories ranking among the top five; among these, eight major conditions—thyroid cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, and colorectal cancer—ranked first. In 2020, the hospital successfully passed the re-accreditation review for Grade A tertiary specialized hospitals, leveraging the assessment process to promote development and achieve continuous improvements in both the volume and quality of medical services.

LIANREN Digital Health is China’s first health and medical big data company structured with central state-owned enterprises as lead investors, alongside participation from local governments, financial institutions, and healthcare IT companies, featuring state-owned capital as the main body and market-oriented mechanisms. In December 2020, LIANREN Digital Health signed an agreement with the People's Government of Shandong Province to jointly establish the National Health and Medical Big Data Center (North). The Northern Center became the first in China to pass the pilot evaluation by the National Health Commission and receive authorization, and it remains the only national-level health and medical big data center established through a tripartite signing involving a national ministry, a provincial government, and a municipal government.

Leveraging the data aggregation capabilities of its Northern China Center as a foundation, LIANREN Digital Health has launched the “Renshu” Big Data Platform. This platform represents the most advanced, technologically sophisticated, and secure product in the industry. By establishing a data lake with unified standards, it constructs a data middle-end, business middle-end, and open platform, thereby forming an operational service system with open capabilities. This year, the Renshu Platform completed its iterative upgrade from version 1.0 to 2.0 and rolled out related applications designed to benefit government administration, healthcare providers, enterprises, and the public, aiming to create a new application ecosystem for health and medical big data.

Pre-hospital treatment information is uploaded and shared in real time, enabling hospital-based experts to make necessary preparations before the ambulance arrives and to guide emergency medical personnel in implementing appropriate symptomatic first-aid measures, thereby maximizing the success rate of treatment for critical illnesses.

In addition to the hospital-wide informatization upgrade, LIANREN Digital Health has also built a specialized big data database and Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) for emergency and critical care at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, Capital Medical University, leveraging data advantages to enhance clinical decision-making and informatization in specialized diseases and disciplines.

Targeting pharmaceutical companies, LIANREN Digital Health is actively advancing digital clinical trial services, leveraging real-world evidence (RWE) studies and laboratory testing market research as entry points to highlight the value of medical big data and its novel insights, thereby empowering business decision-making and digital transformation in the life sciences sector.
