Amid the new era, what challenges and opportunities lie ahead for China’s elderly care market, and how should elderly care companies position themselves for development? On the afternoon of September 28, Mr. Bu Jiangyong, founder of Tianyu Elderly Care, attended the forum titled “How to Age Well: Challenges, Opportunities, and Practices in China’s Elderly Care Market,” hosted by the Healthcare Industry Research Center at CEIBS. He stated, “Every enterprise is a product of its times. Tianyu Elderly Care will respond to the demands of the era and accelerate capacity building within China’s elderly care industry.”

This is an era of “common prosperity.” The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward a long-term development plan for China to build itself into a great modern socialist country by 2050, following the completion of the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. By 2035, solid progress will have been made toward achieving common prosperity for all people, and by 2050, common prosperity for all people will be basically realized. Common prosperity represents the original aspiration and mission of the People’s Republic of China, and it constitutes the most significant contextual backdrop for the present and the foreseeable future. In Bu Jiangyong’s view, in addressing the major imperative of common prosperity, entities across all industries must reexamine their long-term objectives and development strategies within this context. It is essential not only at the individual enterprise level but also at the broader industry level to identify issues, seize opportunities, and strive to meet critical needs that can drive overall progress.

Although the elderly care industry has entered a phase of rapid development in recent years, its overall readiness remains significantly inadequate in the face of massive and accelerating demand. This is evidenced by highly fragmented service supply, reliance on manual and semi-manual operations, limited and superficial adoption of technology, low levels of standardization, and a shortage of specialized professionals. Addressing this substantial demand requires the continuous entry of more specialized service enterprises. However, operational efficiency and technological application capabilities vary considerably among companies across different elderly care scenarios. The processes of planning, construction, trial-and-error, and commissioning not only consume time but also result in redundant investments. This constitutes a bottleneck at the industry level.

How can we respond to the demands of the times? How can we effectively serve the 300 million elderly individuals with diverse, tiered needs? How can we meet the eldercare needs of China’s vast aging population? Bu Jiangyong recognized the tremendous opportunities within the eldercare sector amid these evolving trends. From its inception, Tianyu Elderly Care has been committed to addressing these challenges by enhancing the overall capabilities of the industry, empowering China’s eldercare sector through professionalization and technological innovation. “China’s eldercare market is multi-layered and richly stratified, requiring a diverse array of service offerings. Only a robust ‘foundation’ can adequately support such complexity.”

“Our team’s original aspiration is to strive for a distinction: to make Tianyu stand out in China’s elderly care industry.” Tianyu Elderly Care is committed to providing high-quality health and wellness services for seniors in China and building an infrastructure platform for the digital operation of the country’s elderly care sector. To this end, Tianyu Elderly Care has expanded its R&D investment and independently developed a leading digital-intelligent elderly care system, continuously driving the transformation of elderly care services from informatization to digitalization and intelligence. Meanwhile, it persists in integrating and introducing globally advanced technologies, applying them across various life scenarios for older adults—including “health,” “safety,” “care,” and “social participation”—to create flexibly configurable, comprehensive digital solutions for elderly care. These solutions provide plug-and-play operational capabilities for enterprises participating in the elderly care ecosystem, working together to create a better later life for seniors.

The advent of an aging society, coupled with the new developmental direction of promoting common prosperity, is bound to bring greater opportunities and growth to the elderly care industry. Seizing this historical moment, Tianyu Elderly Care is adopting a global perspective to respond to contemporary needs. By integrating its corporate development into the broader tide of societal progress, the company aims to facilitate the upgrading of the elderly care sector and drive China’s eldercare services toward higher standards and high-quality development.
