Wang Yutian

His primary research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying the intracellular trafficking and dynamic surface expression and regulation of neurotransmitter receptors in neurons, as well as their roles in the pathogenesis and progression of neurological disorders. He is also dedicated to elucidating the mechanisms of major neurological diseases and developing innovative therapeutics, achieving internationally leading results particularly in the development of targeted drugs for learning and memory impairments, stroke, epilepsy, and drug addiction within the central nervous system. He holds multiple international pharmaceutical patents and one novel technology patent applicable to drug development. Furthermore, Academician Wang is committed to translating theoretical breakthroughs into clinical practice, having collaborated with colleagues to advance several candidates from laboratory discovery to clinical-stage development. Professor Wang Yutian’s extensive experience in both basic scientific research and corporate operations has equipped him with substantial practical expertise in the translation of scientific achievements.
Over the years, Professor Wang Yutian’s team has published more than 160 articles in the fields of medicine and neuroscience, accumulating over 35,000 citations on Google Scholar and achieving an h-index above 70. Many of these publications have appeared in prestigious scientific journals, including Science (4), Nature (4), Cell (2), Neuron (12), Nature Neuroscience (7), Nature Medicine (2), Nature Genetics (1), Nature Communications (3), and PNAS (5). The team is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading research groups in brain and neuroscience. It has received numerous accolades from both the Canadian federal and provincial governments, and Professor Wang was twice awarded the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) International Research Scholar Award in 2002 and 2006. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2006 and appointed as an Overseas Expert Advisory Committee Member of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China in 2014.
