On October 12, Shanghai Yichao Medical Device Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yichao Medical”) stood out among numerous competing entries with its “Minimally Invasive Interventional Surgery Integrated Diagnosis and Treatment System,” winning the First Prize in the Big Health Category of the 2021 China (Wuhan) Overseas Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project Competition. It is reported that this international competition was hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology and the People’s Government of Hubei Province, and organized by the Hubei Association for Science and Technology and the Administrative Committee of Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone. A total of 577 projects from 29 countries registered for the competition. After rigorous screening through preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds, 83 projects ultimately advanced to the finals.

According to Feng Qingyu, the company’s founder, the award-winning project is a self-developed integrated diagnosis and treatment system tailored for the minimally invasive field, primarily comprising the following solutions. The first is the world’s inaugural solution addressing both “temporal precision” and “spatial precision” for minimally invasive interventions—the “3D Ultrasound Integrated Diagnosis and Treatment System.” This system can rapidly and accurately identify the appropriate coordinates within the 3D surgical space, dynamically determine the spatial coordinates of any “voxel” in real time, achieve precise surgical space localization, and monitor the treatment pathway in real time, thereby enhancing the precision of minimally invasive therapies and effectively reducing treatment-related complications. Building on 3D ultrasound technology, Yichao Medical’s strategic deployment of a closed-loop product model combining a “3D Ultrasound Minimally Invasive Surgical Platform + High-Value Consumables” demonstrates its keen insight into the evolving trends of ultrasound-guided interventions within clinical pathways.


Second, the company offers a “Multimodal Hybrid Energy Basic Surgical System + Specialized Surgical Solutions” tailored for minimally invasive surgery. It is reported that Yichao Medical’s first-generation ultrasonic surgical scalpel, featuring an ultra-thin, sharp blade tip with a special coating, effectively addresses tissue adhesion during cutting and achieves rapid hemostasis. This product obtained Class III medical device registration from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) earlier this year and has established minimally invasive operating room solutions in collaboration with surgical robotics companies such as Shandong Weigao and Suzhou Kangduo. Building on this foundation, Yichao Medical has developed and designed a new generation of high-end integrated dual-modal ultrasonic-electrosurgical unit, which for the first time enables real-time simultaneous output of ultrasonic and electrical energy, along with precise tissue impedance detection and real-time energy feedback activation, thereby redefining next-generation basic surgical instruments. Additionally, Yichao Medical has pioneered an internationally first-of-its-kind dual-frequency ultrasonic lithotripsy system for ureteral stones, ensuring effective stone fragmentation while avoiding thermal injury to the ureter. This product employs a proprietary specialized blade manufacturing process and significantly improves transducer energy conversion efficiency. It can crush both renal and ureteral stones while maintaining the structural integrity of the ultra-fine blade tip, thereby effectively preventing related complications.


Focusing on the future is the focal point of Yichao Medical’s product innovation. It is reported that, based on minimally invasive interventional surgical solutions and leveraging its capabilities in the process design and technical implementation of high-frequency transducers, Yichao Medical is targeting the development of a multimodal integrated imaging surgical platform combining ultrasonic energy and optics.
