Taking the newly established Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology as a new starting point, SIAT will seize the historical opportunities presented by the “dual-zone drive” of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Pilot Demonstration Area of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. In Guangming District, it will accelerate the creation of an overall layout comprising “one university, two institutes, two facilities, and two innovation centers.” On this fertile ground for reform, SIAT will diligently explore institutional and mechanistic innovations, continuously strive toward the international scientific frontier, proactively lay out strategic emerging industries, and promote the integration of science and education as well as innovative development from multiple perspectives.
Brain Innovation Center Lands in Guangming, Becoming a “Booster” for Industrial Development

Unveiling Ceremony of the Brain Innovation Center
As early as 2019, the brain science team at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology pioneered this initiative nationwide."Academic and Industrial Alliance for Brain Cognition and Brain Diseases"Guided by the principles of “demand-driven, pain-point-focused, and people-centric services,” the alliance has proposed an innovative model in which “end-users pose the questions, and the scientific community provides the answers.” As a source of innovation and an innovation service platform for the brain and health industry, the Guangming Brain Science Technology Industry Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Brain Innovation Center”), established based on the Institute of Brain Cognition and Brain Diseases at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, was officially unveiled at the conference. It is reported that the Brain Innovation Center is jointly built by the Guangming District Government and the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, with a total project investment exceeding RMB 100 million and more than 10,000 square meters of incubation space provided. Taking the model of “end-users pose the questions, and the scientific community provides the answers” as its starting point, and addressing key pain points in the industrial translation of brain science and brain-inspired intelligence, the Brain Innovation Center is establishing China’s first common technology service platform for the brain science industry. Rooted in the Greater Bay Area and extending its reach across China, it aims to create an industrial development ecosystem characterized by “continuous spin-offs along the innovation pathway and agglomeration effects.”

Director Wang Liping Accepts Media Interview
According toWang Liping, Director of the Institute for Brain Cognition and Brain Diseases at Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology“The Brain Innovation Center aims to create an industrial development model that integrates ‘innovation, entrepreneurship, and venture capital’ for coordinated growth. By establishing a mature incubation system, the Center seeks to accelerate the transfer and commercialization of research achievements in brain science, enabling more innovative projects to take root, grow, and thrive in Guangming, Shenzhen. The establishment of the Brain Innovation Center is intended to explore a new collaborative mechanism and chart a novel development path. This requires model innovation, continuous alignment with cutting-edge needs and industry trends, and, with strong support from the Shenzhen Municipal Government and the Guangming District Government, ongoing enhancement of supporting service systems—particularly in talent development, infrastructure construction, and hardware facilities—with the goal of building a national-level innovation hub for the brain and health industry.”

“Guangming Science City Brain and Brain-like Intelligence Industrial Park” Signing Ceremony
Aligned with this core objective, the Brain Innovation Center has proactively laid out its strategy to support the development of technologies in the brain and health industry. The conference featured ““Guangming Science City Brain and Brain-Inspired Intelligence Industrial Park” Signing Ceremony, in accordance with the work deployment, we will collaborate with China Merchants Group to establish the Guangming Brain and Brain-Inspired Intelligence Industrial Park (China Merchants Group Base) in Guangming, aimed at supporting the mid-to-late stage development of early-stage technology teams at the Brain Innovation Center.
China currently has over 90 million individuals with mental disorders. To introduce top-tier domestic and international technical teams in the field of mental health to settle in Guangming, Shenzhen, and to cultivate a cohort of unicorn companies with industry-benchmark influence for the mental health sector in the future, the “Yitou Mental Health Technology Laboratory,” a collaborative initiative between the Brain Research Institute of the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) and Yitou Capital, was unveiled at the B30 Conference. The laboratory aims to foster the development of new technologies for early diagnosis and optimized treatment in the mental health field, both domestically and internationally, and to deepen collaboration with capital investors, thereby jointly promoting the construction of an ecosystem for the brain health industry. These landmark “moves” will become a significant force driving the rapid development of the Guangming Brain and Health Technology industry in the future.
