Carcell Biopharma Secures Over RMB 100 Million in Oversubscribed Seed Round Led by Huiding Investment to Advance Novel Cell and Gene Therapy Platforms

Carcell Biopharma (“Carcell”) announced today the completion of an oversubscribed seed financing round exceeding RMB 100 million. The round was led by Huiding Investment, with participation from Boyuan Capital, Legend Star, and other investors.

Kemeixin is a biopharmaceutical company incubated by EVX Ventures. By establishing a “diversified platform” model, Kemeixin is dedicated to developing multiple platform technologies that will effectively facilitate the development of next-generation cell and gene therapies. Currently, the company’s two primary technology platforms under development focus on engineered red blood cells for immunomodulation and non-viral vector gene delivery based on lipid nanoparticles. The company was co-founded by Lin Xiangqian, Chairman and Founder of EVX Ventures, and Dr. Shi Jiahai from City University of Hong Kong. The founding team also includes Wu Lanlin, former CEO of DanRui China, as well as several other industry veterans who have held positions at prominent biotechnology companies in Boston and Singapore.

Kemeixin is headquartered in Shanghai, with an R&D base in Singapore, and plans to establish a branch in Boston in the near future. The seed-round funding will also be used to build a 6,000-square-meter integrated R&D and manufacturing center in Shanghai, supporting preclinical development of drug candidates and preparing for IND submissions, clinical trials, and early-stage commercial production.
