CNIT Launches Inaugural Innovation Open Week to Bridge Clinical and Engineering Expertise

Nov 10, 2021 18:00 CST Updated 18:00

Enable Engineers to Better Understand Clinical Needs!

Empowering Clinicians with Greater Insight into Engineering Technology!

Truly breaking down industry barriers is the prevailing trend in the current translation of medical innovations.

How are individual coils and intravascular stents transformed from raw materials into finished products through precision manufacturing? And how do they navigate various processes to reach hospitals, where they are implanted into patients’ blood vessels? What are the clinical pain points faced by physicians? How can innovative ideas be brought to fruition?

The CNIT (Neurointerventional Innovation and Translation Alliance), dedicated to building a platform for the translation of innovative neurointerventional projects and constructing an industrial ecosystem for neurointerventional innovation, hereby launches the Innovation Open Week (CNIT-OPEN WEEK).

The inaugural event is scheduled to be held at Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University in the near future (Specific times will be announced separately in accordance with national epidemic prevention and control requirements.), under the guidance of the National Center for Neurological Disorders, China International Neuroscience Institute, Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, and Hainan Boao Medical Innovation Research Institute.

First Stop: Surgical Procedure Visit

Interventional treatment for various cerebrovascular diseases, including whole-brain (spinal) angiography, embolization of intracranial aneurysms, embolization of cerebral and spinal arteriovenous malformations, embolization of dural arteriovenous fistulas, carotid artery stenting, vertebral artery stenting, and intracranial arterial angioplasty.

Value of the First Stop Visit

The initiative aims to strengthen ties among medical institutions, universities and research institutes, and enterprises, fostering mutual understanding between the medical and engineering sectors regarding clinical needs and industrial technological advancements. Ultimately, by pooling collective wisdom and focusing on industry pain points, it seeks to jointly address challenges in innovation translation.

Following the surgical observation, CNIT will organize all participants to discuss the performance characteristics of various neurointerventional devices related to the observed procedures, clinical application technical details, as well as current gaps in interventional treatment for various diseases and future prospects. This initiative aims to facilitate thorough communication of stakeholder needs, break down industry communication barriers, and strengthen the integration between medical professionals and engineers.

Registration Method for Visits

We are currently collecting visitor information from universities, research institutes, and corporate R&D engineers. Interested participants are requested to complete the registration form (Scan the QR code on the “Registration Form” to obtain) (each CNIT member institution is limited to recommending one R&D engineer), and send it to the CNIT Secretariat. The CNIT Secretariat will conduct qualification reviews of the applicants,The final list of attendees will be released one week prior to the event atCNIT Neurointerventional Innovation and Translation AllianceOfficial Account Announcement

About CNIT

Initiated by Professor Zhang Hongqi, Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, the China Alliance of Neurointerventional Innovation and Transformation (CNIT) is a coalition established jointly by various medical innovation entities. With the primary missions of “building an innovative exchange platform in the field of neurointervention,” “conducting in-depth innovative research in neurointervention,” and “promoting the translation and implementation of achievements in neurointervention,” CNIT is committed to establishing a non-profit professional academic and industry-academia-research-application platform. This platform comprises high-level medical innovation talents in neurointervention, research-oriented medical institutions, universities, research institutes, professional academic societies, medical technology enterprises, and other innovation entities and partners. By fully stimulating the vitality of various medical innovation elements in the field of neurointervention, CNIT aims to drive the industrialization of innovative technologies in the discipline, establish clinical and industrial hubs for neurointerventional innovation, and lead the innovative development of the neurointervention industry.
